| ![]() So it finally happened, we have been in TN for a week and he got his first tick of his life. I know it has been discussed a lot on Yorkie Talk, however, I forgot the best way to take it off. I guess it is time to take out the de-tick topical stuff. Anyone know of a home de-ticker instead of the chemicals? Just an FYI, this move went great! No stress related issues despite a 3 day car trip, living in a hotel and staying with his two cousins for a day or two. |

| ![]() Our dogs are all on preventative stuff for fleas/ticks but we had a litter of Aussie pups last Summer and a couple of them got a tick (they were not on the preventative yet). I googled the best way to get it off and found this.... How to remove a tick There are comments below the article about pros and cons to this method but I'll say that it was much more preferrable to me AND the puppies to do it this way. I know a lot of people don't like touching the tick with their finger but I'm not queasy that way. Good luck!! P.S. You'll get lots of advise about the best way. Just use your best judgement.

| ![]() Ewwwwwwww... we hate ticks. We got this tool called the tick twister and it is soooo much easier to remove ticks with it. You don't have to touch it or anything. I got 3 tick twisters in case I or DH misplaces them.

| ![]() I'm glad your tip was a safe one dispite picking up a hitchhiker in TN. Gotta stay away from the weeds and trees. ![]()

| ![]() I got several of these last year after I found a tick on Bonnie. I put one in her first aid kit and one in the family first aid kit. Didn't have to use Bonnie's, but I did use the other one on my son. Works wonders ![]() ticked off: http://www.tickedoff.com/ Last edited by Sweetlips6; 05-17-2010 at 04:13 PM. |
