Any idea why he does this?

Does anyone know why after Louis does his "business" (usually #2), he starts kicking his back legs really fast? (Almost like he is trying to cover it up with grass.)

Samy does this when he shakes his body really fast... he usually does it when he is over the covers on my bed.. he ripped my sheet once doing this.

Maybe it is a male thing? I have never seen females do it!

I don't know why they do it, but it's so comical and makes me laugh. Mine do that too...I call it the donkey kick! LOL

My Scottie Dog does that too. I believe it is to spread the scent.

This is what I have heard as well... all the toy poodles I grew up with, ALL girls... did this as well, oddly enough neither of the yorkies do it

LOL Miss Zoey does this when she is mad. Almost always when I put clothes on her or just after I yell! She is so funny and I think it is the greatest thing! After she does it, I ask her if she is mad and she barks at me. She also knows that she gets my attention when she does it lol!

Haha Bella does it too! After she goes potty and also when she's trying to get Rocco to play. And like KristenDanielle said, when she wants my attention. It's hysterical.

Out of 6 toy dogs I've had (3 Maltese, 3 Yorkie), I've only had one that did this .... a female Yorkie. It is supposed to kick up their scent. When she would do it, I would say "be a bull, be a bull!" then eventually I could use that phrase to get her to go potty on command.

i think my aunt's little girl does it when she's done going #2. help me out if you see this one Karrie. Sadie doesn't really do it, she kicks sometimes for other things but not after going poo

My scottie/cairn does this too. I asked the vet and he said they do it to spread the scent. Twinkie watches her brother do this and now she is doing it! She's not very good at it though. Her back end flies in the air and she almost flips over! Very funny to watch though!

Yes, and he also wants the whole neighborhood to know that every rock, blade of grass, pole, fire hydrant, etc.........is his territory too!
