urgent advice needed !!!!help please.

hi all ,it has been ages since i was last on due to family illness,but i desperately need to know if my furrbie is mated even if the dog does not fully locked on.please help me if you can . thanks pauline

It is definitely possible. A pregnancy can occur without a tie.

yep, I have heard of pregnacies without a tie, how long ago? maybe you should take her for a sonogram if its been long enogh..

Have they mated more than once?
Was this deliberate or accidental?
How Old is she?
How big is she?
Did you assist in the mating?

hi thought so ,it was intentional,but it was her first try & i don,t think she liked it much

it was the 1st time we have tried so i'm not too sure what to expect, she came into season on the26th october & we went to see her little prince on the 4th & 6th nov.she is 2yrs old & weigh's 4lbs.i checked with my vet & she said she would be fine to breed with ,i found a very small stud dog so i will just have to wait with baited breathe & great expectations.i will take her to the vet's as soon as pos' to check,but any advice will be greatly valued pauline

hi i think it is too early for a scan,is there anything i should be looking for, she mated 4th & 6th nov. pauline

yes, is early, yet, but you can check her tits are they still swollen? her vulva is bigger than usual? her attitude is she more clinggy to you and so on, only you know your bitch well so is up to you to try to read her, best of luck..

So she did not tie either time? If she did not stand willingly, it might have been too soon. I guess time will tell. I would not pay for an ultra sound. I'd wait and do an xray at day 55.

But the lack of any of these signs does not mean that she is not pregnant. Some do not show those signs. And some show the signs but are not pregnant.

oh,, I agree 100% , this are just general signs, but quoting my vet...
"IF in doubt, treat her like she is pregnant until we verified she is not.."

thankyou to all my friends who replied to my question, you have all been a great help. i will take great care with her as always & pebbles as all us furrbie owners know, we are great suckers for their every whim ha! ha! i so hope she is, but,we will have too wait & see. she did stand both times & they were together for a few minutes only. perhaps she just is going to be too shy or doesn't like it!!!!! well if it happens it does if not so be it all our best from us in the uk to all my friends out there xx

Only time will tell for sure whether or not she's preggers. You just have to hang in there and wait. I was in the same boat a couple of months ago. Hopefully your girl (if she's pregnant), will have an easier whelping than mine. We'd gone back and forth trying to decide whether to breed her, considering she's only 4.5 lbs.. We decided to go for it, but there were problems during delivery. Luckily, everyone is okay, and the babies are thriving, but we won't be doing that again. I hope your little girl's size doesn't turn out to be a problem, as well. They don't recommend breeding a dog under 5 lbs., and now I know why. Good luck, and keep us updated on her progress. You should check out the breeders section of YT, as you'll get a lot more responses and advice there. Seriously, I learned so much from everyone on here, they're awesome!
