My yorkies let me know we had an usual visitor today.... They were barking, running in and out trying to tell me something.... I was shocked at what I saw looking back at me.... The Game Warden called my girls the gator brigade!

Of course, they were never in any harm, but my ducks sure were.... Since Hurricane Ike, the coastal wildlife has been showing up in very odd places... This was our first gator (hopefully our last!) About 5 ft long and pretty t'd off....

I think I'm going to embroider some little jackets with the game warden emblem on them.... You wouldn't believe how aggressive they were.... I've never seen them act that way.... They wouldn't hardly let me get out of the gate to get to it.... Once I was out, it was a frenzy of barking and whining ... My kiddos were worried about me

My dh works in law inforcement one county over so I called him, he said, "girl, I'm not the sheriff in our county... you have to call him!" He always tells me he's not my personal 911, but I beg to differ!

Trust me, it scared me.... It was not very happy and I was in the way of the garden pond it was headed to... I had decided that sucker wasn't getting near my lillies and ducks.... He'd get mad and hiss.... I've lived in Coastal Texas my whole life, Gators are nothing new, but not in my yard!! All of the storm surge on the coast pushed lots of these critters inland, so they are still trying to make thier way back to the bayous and tributaries.... Very Scary!!

I would have just plain passed out if I saw that thing near by.
What brave little guard pups you have. Glad everyone is safe.
There's a first time for eveything let's hope it also the last time
you see anything like that by your property.

I can NOT even imagine how scary that was....tell your DH so much for being your knight in shining armour....oh wait you dont need DH to be your knight, you have yorkies!!! lol. You have to be very proud they were trying so hard to protect you

That's what I told him.... just to go on back to work, me and the dogs would handle it! He just laughed at me then got the duck tape... Not for me, btw, although he threatens to tape my mouth shut often...for the gator's big scary mouth....

Oh my....that must have been a shocker. You just got to love a Yorkie. I hope you gave them an extra treat!!!

What a big lizzard! Please be extra careful with your little Game Wardens. Dogs are a delicacy to alligators and believe it or not they can outrun a horse for short distances.... so don't plan on outrunning one unless you are a distance runner or a good tree climber and have one handy.

I would have probably passed out or started screaming like crazy seeing that gator in my yard.

OH My! I am thankful for the snow here in Michigan, I would not like to wake up to THAT in my yard! Glad you are all safe!!

Your puppies are so brave. An alligator would totally freak me out, but I don't have to worry about them cause gators don't like cold. I do worry about skunks and coyotes in my yard. That's when my kids go crazy letting me know that something is outside in our yard.
