How are our Gulf Coats YTers?

I was watching the news this morning and it really hit me how bad this hurricane is. It just keeps getting worse and worse and I see they did a mandatory evacuation of galveston. I wanted to see how our yter from down there were doing or if anyone can give us an update as I am sure they are not on the computer right now . I just want to make sure everyone got out okay. I know Kimberly was down there.

Villette is staying. They are not evacuating. If the storm goes in where they are predicting, she will be on the eastern side of the eye which is the bad side. There are typically lots of tornadoes in the northeastern quadrant and lots of rain. Houston floods pretty easily.

I was wondering if villette would end up in the storm. I pmed her. I hope she is okay. I am really worried about everyone down there.

We're ok on the west coast of Florida. Just wind and some rain. I pray that's all that anyone gets. I don't think we could all go through another Katrina again.

I just realized the title said gulf coats and not coast. Oops

went to Lowe's this morning and there was a line of over 100 people waiting for plywood. After about 20 minutes, I said forget this...they ran out...AGAIN so I went to the more expensive isle and found some finished wood for $26 a sheet. Loaded up on that so hopefully it'll be enough.

Hubby is going on 5 hours of sleep working 12 hour shifts. Probably won't see him past tonight. He'll have to stay up at the jail and work through the weekend. He's going to start cutting and putting up the wood this afternoon.

My mom is going down to the valley but I don't know if it'll be safe down there especially if they know that a bunch of people are going down there...could be robberies. In-laws are going down a couple of hours south. may go with them.

will be watching the weather closely.

I've been running around all morning too getting ice and TRYING to find water - no luck ...Houston stores are selling out of everything. All my yard furninture is put up and hoperully our windows won't blow out or a tree fall.

Thank you for worrying ...In my case I'm more worried about being without electricity and my husbands oxygen machine ...but I have a feeling we should be ok where we live.

I know those on the Coast of will be in the most trouble but even where I live we flood so I'm keeping my fingers crossed - My sister evacuated and is at my moms house ...she was in Clear Lake which is really close to Galveston.

I'm packing - again! I really, really, hate this. Bad enough I went online last night to try and find somewhere with no hurricanes and tornadoes!

I have Sabrina's meds/food/dresses ready, mine, the family pictures. Water, snacks. I live in a mobile home so I'm moving in next door with my 81 year old DAD and his 2 dogs (yorkie and snauzer). My Mom's being moved to Del Rios (nursing home being evacuated). It's just a real pain. It's a pain if it hits, if it nearly hits, if it doesn't. You'd think I'd be better prepared after 50 years of living here!

If you don't hear from me for a while - the phones are out or something. I'll get back online Sunday if it's over. I'll be missing you guys. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

We live in Groves, south of beaumont and packing. Not sure if we're leaving or not. I work at Sutherland's in Port Arthur and we sold out of plywood early this morning..a freaking madhouse. Did manage to find water and batteries. Gizmo is in his new harness from Joy lookin very dapper, ready to go ( where? ) if necessary. This whole thing sucks..100 degrees outside right now.
