Help! I need advice getting yorkie home from AR to GA - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I have a family member that needs me to take care of her yorkie while she goes to the hospital for treatments. She lives in Arkansas and I live in Atlanta, GA. I just found out that I need to get her here asap (within the next 3 days) and I don't know what to do. She is a 2 1/2 yr old yorkshire terrier that weighs about 3 lbs. I am so scared to have her shipped via airplane, but with a 10 hour+ drive- it is not possible for me to drive out there within the next 3 days. Please give me any advice or info that you have regarding transporting. I have searched airplane info, but I am scared for her to ride in the luggage/cargo area. I called Delta to find out if I could buy her a seat or pay extra for her to be in the cabin, but she said it is not possible. I am desperate for any info....I know that the travel will be stressful and I don't want her to be traumatized. Thank you so much for any advice/info that you can give me.

I am so sorry that no one answered you before. I'm assuming by now you got this little one to your home. How is she doing?

Welcome to YT - how long will she be with you?

Thank you. I was very lucky because my sister had a friend that drove out there and got her for me. She is the sweetest little girl. I was worried that she would be nervous and sad, but she has been so happy! Of course, we have been totally spoiling her everyday

She is like our little "baby." I'm so glad I found this site because there is alot of useful info. I will post pics of her soon.

Fly out of ATL and pick the pup up. See if she'll pay for you to fly out and back, then you can put the dog in a carry on dog back and she can ride in coach by you. sorry, I just re read and looked at dates. I don't know why no one ever answered you before either. I never saw this thread..so sorry

Glad you got her in an easier fashion. These yorkies are just like little babies - they are sooo easy to spoil. Don't expect to let her go back to her mommy & go back to your normal life without being addicted & convinced that you need one of your own
