KaCee's nose is looking strange?! - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I'm sitting in class right now so I'll add pictures to this when I get home this afternoon but I wanted to post this now while I'm thinking about it.

The past few weeks, KaCee's nose is slowly changing from the normal black color to a whitish/pinkish/gray color around the edges. It almost seems like it's chapped maybe from her licking herself?

It doesn't seem to be bothering her- she doesn't itch at it, she's not excessively licking, it doesn't bother her when I touch it.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hot Rod's nose is changing to a brown in the center. The edges are still black. Around his lips is loosing pigment and are pinky. The vet said that they looked fine. If there was some other things going on with it (thickening) it would cause for alarm. I noticed this since September.

Weird...The opposite seems to be happening to KaCee. The middle of her nose is still black but the edges are losing pigment. Around her lips are losing pigment too.

It's called winter nose and fairly common during the winter months due to lack of spending time outdoors. The pigment will return in the summer.

Yes, really. It happens to Ramsey's nose every winter. When we start spending more time outdoors...it'll black back up. A nose suntan if you will.

She was right it is a seaonal abnormailty called Snow Nose. and it could be Vitiligo which is a condition in which the pigment is lost from the nose , lips and eyelids. There is no Treatment.

It can also be allergy to their feeding dish, if its not stainless. Plastic does it sometimes.
