| ![]() Spike hates his bath, hates being brushed and hates having his nails trimmed. He is a squirmy little puppy right now, but i was hoping for some advice, how long did it take for you to get your little ones used to being groomed regularly? Do you have any tricks or little things that helped them get more used to it? Of course i do talk to him and try to reasure him, also I try to distract him but its not easy LOL

| ![]() Just talk real soft. I know when I was getting Chip to like baths I would say things like "Oh look at that pretty boy... we're gonna get you allllll pretty... what a good boy!" and just things like that. When he does good, REWARD HIM with treats. Also, after a bath, I let my dogs get their energy out by letting them run around the house like pyscho puppies trying to get dried off for a few minutes.

| ![]() I find with Yogi, that he seems really scared of the running water in the tub. So I just fill up the tub with warm water to his belly and I have a huge plastic bowl that I put warm water in and leave in the tub also. I'll bathe him as quickly as possible, praising him when he's still and firmly telling him Quit when he squirms. I use the fresh water in the bowl to rinse with so that I don't have to run the water while he's in the tub. Then treats and lots of goofy talk as him runs wild for a minute or two before making him stand still to be dried and combed. I do my best to make a game of it. I think this week I'll bring a few of his plastic toys into the bath with him. Maybe that'll distract him a little more.

| ![]() Bean hated baths as well, but always stands outside the shower, so I started opening the door and letting her in. She still doesn't LOVE baths but it's been the best experience so far. |
