Mom to Marty & Maddie Donating Member | ![]() I met with my supervisor for my internship position with the Department of Children's Services Foster Care Unit today. She was a SUPER sweet lady who seemed genuinely interested in helping me learn to help others to the best of my ability. It's intimidating that in a few short weeks I'll be directly influencing the lives of children and families during some of their most difficult times. I hope and pray I don't make any big mistakes because in this type of work, mistakes can be really REALLY bad. I'm incredibly intimidated by the responsibility, but I am also excited to begin doing what I've been training for for the past several years. My stomach has been in knots all day, and my internship doesn't even start until January! ![]() Anyone else do this type of work? If so, please PM me with any advice or words of wisdom. I could really use it! |

| ![]() We were foster parents for years and yes, mistakes can be really, really bad. However, just remember to think things through before making any decision...consider the entire picture and do what's best for the child. Oh...and never leave your cell phone on in the court room! Hang in there...you'll be just fine. |

Mom to Marty & Maddie Donating Member | ![]() Thanks for the encouragement Mom2boyz and for the PM Amanda. I'm feeling a lot less worried today, but I'm sure that will change when it gets closer to time to start my job. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. ![]() |
