| ![]() I'd take the dewormer home and do it on a different day. Acute, life threatening reactions to vaccines are extremely rare. If you are concerned you can have her premedicated with Benadryl and stay at the vet's office for about 1/2 hour after it is giving.

| ![]() Hello, About two years ago I lost my pup to a rabies shot. She was 9 months old at the time and we waited because she was small. I stayed at the vets office just to make sure she was okay. She started acting a little fatigue so I gave her the puppy nutrical and she woke up more. When I left she was totally fine. The next morning we woke up and did our normal routine. About an hour later she passed away. I found he cuddled up in her bed. We later found out it was the rabies shot. Like said before it is rare but to this day it still scares me when I get another puppy. You may want to look on one of the other threads about vaccinations. Because they said there are two different types of rabies vaccinations. One is a single dose, the other is something else but it has preservatives and many think this is the one that usually gives the pups the problems. Also research on the net has shown that it is better to wait for the rabies shot in pups til they are a year old because the vaccination is contraindicated because it has no affect for most til they are a year old. Again it would be better to discuss your worries with your vet, but after all that happened to me I reaseached it along with my breeder and this is what we came up with. I jsut read the thread yesterday where they had some of this info.

| ![]() It is very scary but the problem with the rabies is we have zero choice in the matter. Depending on your state, you may have to vaccinate at 4 months. Some vets will hold off til 6. Thankfully though, stories like the one above aren't common. Rabies and lepto are probably the two most dangerous though. So stay close to the vet for two days after for the added safety.

| ![]() Pepper had his rabies shot this morning. He is doing great! No problems at all. Next on the agenda will be having him neutered. But not for a month or two.

| ![]() Romeo had his rabies shot at around the time he was 4 months, he was probably 3.5-4lbs then and he was fine! I didn't even know about the risk associated with it until now and thought that it was mandatory to get it ![]() Good luck with your decision

| ![]() Definetly check your state law, your vet should know it also. It is mandatory in Ca, but the law varies depending on where you live. I don't want to scare you into not getting it, but this is my experience with the rabies vaccine. It is the law but the longer you can wait the better. I went to get her shot at 6 months and the vet told me to wait, so i did.
