Snobby Moms?- I need to vent!

I am a 21 (22 next week) college student. I babysit for several families in the Davis community and I LOVE it. For kids ranging from 4 months-8 years of age. All the mom's call me "Mary Poppins" and I just love my job.
WELL- the other day I was waiting for one of my kids at her soccer practice while also watching her younger sister...
The Husband was giving me instructions about carseats and such for when I drove the kids home and we were standing in front of some of the other soccer moms and I hear them talking (as I am only 3 feet away from them)
"That MUST be the babysitter..."
and then when the husband leaves and I start talking to my little one in the stoller I hear them saying:
"It's soooo much easier to be nice to them when they aren't your own"

OMG.... first of all... I feel sorry for her kids and second of all that is kind of rude to say seeing as I'm COMPLETELY in earshot.
When I went to take pictures of the awards ceremony (of the one playing soccer receiving her participation award) the mothers were really rude to me.

I don't know- am I complaining about nothing?

They sound like women that have nothing else better to do than cut other people down. They like to think they are better than everyone else, but with that attitude, they definitely aren't. Don't worry about them... do what you have to do, smile at them, and just be congenial. Prove them wrong!

Sounds like they are jealous that they don't have the luxury of hiring a babysitter, and have to be the ones to cart the kids around all day.

haha yeah- it was such an unnecessary thing to say at the time. ... SO i just didn't understand how someone could be so ridiculous

Sounds like bored petty bitches to me. They could also be insecure- you're 21 and they're ?? I'm actually 35 and women with attitudes like that make me really sad. They are missing out on on the really great things in life. Don't let them get you down- they're pathetic!

I used to be a nanny and babysitter too, and would get snide remarks, questions, and looks too. Just remember that you're doing your job, and those people are probably just jealous they don't have someone as wonderful as you to take care of their kids...plus, you wouldn't want to care for children who have such snobby parents, would you? So, give them a GREAT BIG smile, and lay it on thick with the kids you're watching. Nothing works better than to kill' em with kindness!!!

I love Davis... People are usually so niiiice. I had never seen the snobby side of town until I heard these ladies talking. I hope there aren't many people like that.

I hope so too, everybody seems so nice when I was there, got to watch out for the bikes he,he. Hey by the way don't you suppose to be working on something?. Someone is going to temporary suspend your acct so you can have some work done just kidding she just want the best for you
