| ![]() Hi all, This is my first time posting and also my first time having a Yorkie. My little Sammy is almost 5 years old and I adopted him back in July 2007. I've noticed that he sleeps a lot more than the mixed breed I had growing up. He sleeps through the night with me (usually 7 hours), then is up for about 2 hours after breakfast, 2 hours around dinner time, and then 2 hours before bedtime. Granted, I work from home so I notice that during the day he doesn't sleep very soundly, and I was told that Yorkies need a lot of sleep, but around 18 hours a day worth? Is this normal? ![]() -LuvMySammy |

| ![]() lol! Roxy sleeps a lot too... I thought only puppies slept a lot, but Roxy sleeps a lot. My Chihuahua's do too... Not as much as Roxy does... Roxy sleeps through the night with me, and any time I am on the computer she sleeps, and after she eats she sleeps... She sleeps a lot... I run around and play with her in between "sleeps"... but I know she's be much more active if she had a friend... Thats why I am working on getting Chompers ![]()

| ![]() Its totally normal, most dogs sleep between 15-20 hours, specially the ones that are very active when awake (like Yorkies). So as long as your babies are healthy and happy, sleeping is just fine.

| ![]() Wow! 15-20 hours! Whew! That's good to hear. And Sammy's certainly active when he's awake! All he does is sleep, eat, play, and give LOTS of kisses! |
