Look at these Yorkie puppies in the Atlanta paper!!

Ok, I don't know anything about breeding, but shouldn't the mom be bigger than the dad? The ad says the mom is 2.9 lbs!!! (Should you have babies when you are that small?) Worse, the dad is 4 lbs!!! These puppies are really close to my home! It says they are 3 months old and weigh 1 pound. Am I wrong---is this good breeding? Please tell me your thoughts.

The sire does not always have to be smaller than the dam. It's important to know the lines that the dogs come from, the size of most of them, what size puppies they typically throw, and if the dams have been free-whelpers or have needed c-sections. From what I've read from experienced breeders on here, there's a lot more to it than size of the sire and dam alone. But 2.9lbs is too small to be having a litter period!

That is a terrible breeder. That female is to small to be bred. I have been seeing more and more of that lately

ya thats y i wouldnt breed martini shes tiny and i cant see my baby going through that at allllll im not into that if the dog is small dont breed them poor thing

Thanks, MyFairLacy, for the good information. We aren't looking at getting another puppy, just like looking at the pictures. Maybe they are exaggerating about the size of the parents knowing people are so interesting in tiny puppies. I just wanted some feedback.

Yep, I can't remember where though...it was recently and it was on a breeder's site...hmm....

I just looked closer to the ad. The one phone number is local, but the other is a different area code than the zip code where the puppies are located (which is very close to me). It also doesn't mention if they are girls or boys. Hmmmmmm

It says her zip code next to location. She is in Alpharetta (according to her ad), but she has one 404 number and one 917 number. I'm not sure where that is.

I think 2.9 lb is entirely too small to breed to begin with plus if I were ever going to breed pups which I'm not I personally would want the male smaller than the female..... The pups in the pictures are cute but the price appears low to me if they are AKC and expected to be 3 lb full grown....

Roxy is 2.7 lbs. But she just happened to be tiny. Her Mom was 7lbs and her dad was 5lbs!!! All her siblings were also very big... So, even if I bred her with a small boy, her own bloodlines might work against her. I don't want that at all!! If something *God forbid* ever happened to Roxy... I would be completely lost. I wanted to breed when I first thought about getting a Yorkie, but I am too in love with Roxy to ever risk her life.... I would love to have an extension of her just in case something happened to her, but to me, the price that I might pay probably isnt worth it...
