| ![]() Ok here i need to know.. Yesterday We went to a lil pet store too look around for stuff for the new baby coming in less then a week ( oh my god i can't wait). Well while were there they had some Chiuwawa Puppies.. I never really cared for that breed of dog to me let look funny lol but there stil kute!! Well my honey on the other hand Fell in love with one of them.. (i mean who can walk buy a puppy and not play with it right?). So we played with him for a little bit and she looked at me and said she wanted him.. I said i didn't care of we got him too but she said she wanted to wait until we got Mi'Leigh settled in... LOL no for my question.. Would it be better to wait to to get anothrt baby after Mi'Leigh or should we get them at the same time? |

| ![]() There are pros and cons to both...getting a second puppy will allow them to grow up together, and they may be better bonded. However, you may find they're difficult to train, since it will be hard to tell who had the accident in the house ![]() I also must caution you about purchasing a dog from a pet store. Pet stores are known for selling puppy-mill dogs. It's a vicious cycle between the so called "breeders", the brokers, the pet stores, and the buyers. I know you may see them and think they're so cute and that you've just got to have one, ![]() I encourage you to do some research on the topic, as well as on chihuahuas as a breed, and look for reputable breeders in your area. Then you can make a decision on where and when to get a chi puppy.

| ![]() We have chi's and yorkies. Hubby is partial to chi's and I yorkies. All our dogs but the last 2 have been gotten about a year apart, one thing that always bothered me about that was the new pup wanted to play more with the older dogs than they wanted to play with the new pup. We got our yorkie pups about a month apart and they have the best time. Because I do have the older dogs, the pups are learning to use the bathroom where the older ones go so I don't ever have a problem much with training them. Personally, I feel better about having the pups at the same time, not only do they have each other to play with, but when hubby is home we each have a puppy to cuddle! No more jealousy and I find I have more time because the pups keep each other amused. Everyone is different though, you two need to talk it over and decide which way is best for you and your situation. |

We talked about that also... The lady at the pet store told me they were from a breeder.. But i have heard alot of aweful things about puppies in a pet store.. I truely beileve if we did get one he would come from a breeder.. But not before i went visit and see what kind of conditions they were raised in.. Like my yorkie baby.. She gets lots and i mean lots of love an attition everyday and they have been callin her by her name after 2wks she was born.. The Breeder im geting her from sends me pic messages to my phone.. I would hope to find a nice breeder like that for the Chi pup as well.. As far as price goes they wanted 650$ for him.. I don't currently know how much they go for but like i did with my new baby i will do all the research i can about them.. I hope i can come across a nice forum like this one..

| ![]() You are the only one who can decide if you're capable and ready to raise 2 at the same time...it can be work...but for us it has worked out fine. We had Jo for about 6 months before we got Riley so I was training them both at the same time and it worked out great. We just bought 11 week old sisters and their training is going great...except for that little 'revenge poop' in the dining room last night ![]() |

thats how i feel.. potty trainin she not be a real problem.. there both small breeds so they would both be at work with my wife until i got home.. so they would either be with there mom me or there nanny at all times.. lol... And like you i also have 2 older dogs.. I want someone Mi'Leigh can play with while she has to be at work with mom.. and then for those few and far between days when they have to be alone.

| ![]() I have a Chi and a yorkie. I wouldn't recommend a chihuahua to anyone but that's just after owning two(one short hair one long hair). They shed, yorkies don't. All those little tiny hairs are a pain in the butt(especially on my bed sheet). Plus, my chi hates kids and is very yappy and grouchy. Yes, chihuahua's are cute and little but as someone who has owned a lot of different types of dogs in my lifetime, I wouldn't get another one PERIOD. I'd stick with just the yorkie for now. In fact, I loved my yorkie's personality so much that I found myself wanting another one. Now I have two yorkies(about a year apart). I would wait till you get your new yorkie, I bet after awhile you'll want another yorkie for a pal for yours and two yorkies are definately better than one.

| ![]() Wow...I've got a Chi now, as well my Yorkie and a Toy Poodle. I've been owned by four Chihuahuas in my life, and never experienced anything but loving, affectionate and smart babies. Yes, they can be protective, but I never allowed it to go beyond a bark if someone is at the door. I truthfully love my Chihuahua as much as my Yorkie. Here's my new Figgy, and Widdles playing together.

| ![]() I have to agree that there are pros and cons to each decision you make. I got my 2nd one, Foxxy, 1 year after Diva..who was fully trained, etc. and there were times I wish I had gotten them closer together. It's just like if you had a litter of puppies and decided to keep 2.. ![]()

| ![]() I have no advice to give since Lucy will be an only child but best of luck in your decision ![]() On another note - I thought Chi's were like Yorkies regarding their hair? I had no idea they shed?

| ![]() I think it depends on how much patience and time you have to give to them. If your home a lot it might work out, but if you have to leave them alone you might have problems. Also, you can get a pet quality Chi for about the same amount from a breeder. Just be careful you don't get a sick baby.
