Hello I am new to this forum, I joined to ask about my Yorkie named Baby

. She is 4 years old and 8lbs. She had very soft poop about 4 days ago, she seemed find afterwards and then unfortunately my mom gave her canned Salmon, I dont know if it was the salmon that started her up again or not but she has the runs now. She has to go several times a day and she has been making mistakes in the hosue which she never does b/c she cant help it.
She is acting normal and eating normal. I havent given her the soft food I usually do yet today in fear that she will have to go. She has her hard food down, which she will not eat unless she is REALLY hungry. I read about giving her rice and some canned pumpkin.....will that help? Or boiled chicken?

Welcome to YorkieTalk

You could try giving lean chicken and white rice. Some people actually prefer to give plain yogurt (like stoneyfield, it has more active cultures) to settle stomachs. I would be very concerned right now because diarrhea leads to dehydration and four days is too long for a Yorkie I would think. Have you talked to your vet about it?

Welcome to YT. Sorry your baby is sick. I recently went thru this with one of mine that must have picked up something at a dog show she was in. Anyway, my friend told me to get a small jar of the mashed bananas that babies eat and some plain yogurt. Mix equal parts and give about two tablespoons to her. My girl weighs about three pounds and the diarreha was like tan water it was so thin and runny so I gave her a full 20 cc's the first time, then that evening 10cc's in a syringe and ten cc's next morning and it was gone. Your dog might eat it but mine wouldn't so I used a syringe to get it in her. I had always used Kaopectate before but they don't make that anymore and the Pepto Bismal didn't work.

I forgot to say, take her off all food except some boiled chicken that has been rinsed to get the fat off for twenty four hours.

If your baby still sick, just take it to the vet
