Can you give an hour today on a dog's last day? Today may well be the last day Lennox has to live. The family was given until the 21st to find a loop hole in the law to save him. We don't know what is going on right now as the Belfast city council has done a good job this week putting everything as quiet as they can. The save Lennox site has been down for days and a threat to have your FB page suspended has been posted on their FB page for posting about it. I don't know if it will do a shred of good but I think Lennox deserves one last good push today...please. There was a good list of people to contact but it is gone now with the save Lennox site down but I have found this with a good list of contacts. I will be writing each and every one. If you can spare an hour today please try and write for Lennox. He needs well thought out pleas without threat or smearing if they are to mean anything. Save Lennox - Updated List of Ways You Can Help! |
myteddybear- do you know why all sites are down and nowhere is updating? i haven't bee able to get onto fb to follow it all! :( Owners in final bid to save death row dog Lennox - Northern Ireland, Local & National - Belfasttelegraph.co.uk they have been granted another stay of execution! please everyone, make your voice heard- lennox cannot speak out, so please do so for him! after 520+ days in a cell, i think lennox deserves a little of your time, don't you agree? please; i Will beg if i have to. |
I am not familiar with what is going on with this. Is it that they took the dog because he "looks" dangerous? Tell me what I can do. Write to some of the contacts on the page you linked? It is ok to do so from the United States? I will write if you let me know. Thanks! |
here is a link to the thread i started when i 1st found out about him... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ani...ve-lennox.html its quite a long story, but basically, yes- it is because he Looks like a pit; they went to his home with a dressmakers tape measurer and decided based on the length of his legs and muzzle that he must be a pit, and a danger to society. he spent his winter nights curled up on the sofa with his yorkie sibling, so he is obviously quite the killer! please, after reading his story from the above link (all sites are down atm thanks to belfast city council, so that thread is the best bet i can find for his story) simply explain to BCC (and all other contacts in government) how disgusted you are with this situation, and that you Will make it known to people planning on visiting the uk to avoid the city... in the past few years they have done extensive work to the city to make it more of a tourist orientated city. i am ashamed now to come from belfast, every time you see n.i mentioned on an animal website it is only to remind us how terribly our councils deal with 'dangerous dogs'. BSL should not have to be tolerated in todays society; what with all the work done to stop sectarianism (and racism etc), they still seem perfectly fine with ripping a childs dog from her sick bed because of how he looks. DEED NOT BREED- WHY CAN'T THEY UNDERSTAND THIS!? |
The link I provided above has a bunch of good links to contact. People are contacting from all over the world so absolutely yes ok to do from the US. Unfortunately with them shutting everything down I Can't find the original links that were posted on the site that included so many good links. Thank God for the ruling made yesterday and I am so praying it is what will finally save this poor boy and send him home. To take a sweet dog from his responsible home where the owners have followed all the rules to a T, there have been no complaints on him and he acted as a service or therapy dog to their 12 year old daughter all for looks is just beyond my imagination. What really breaks my heart the most is that this poor guy has no clue what he has done or why he has been taken from his family and put into this cruel place with no love and strangers trying to break him down. He must be so sad, confused and scared. |
How sad for that poor little baby. :( I will work on a letter to send in emails. |
I'm tired and had a long day so didn't check these to see if they were all the same but I think there are more links on this one. Pretty sure it was the original one I saw on the site that won't come up now but this looks like another version of the same site that seems to be working. Give the links on this page a look and please write them. How You Can Help Save Lennox Campaign Blog |
Ok, I have a letter written to send on the emails. However, during my reading of what is happening to Lennox, I have discovered that my own state has many cities with breed specific laws. Here is part of the city ordinance from one of the cities here. "Banning of specific breeds. Banned breeds of dogs are banned entirely and may not be owned or kept within the City. Banned breeds of dogs are any of the following: (1) American Pit Bull Terrier. (2) Staffordshire Bull Terriers (3) American Staffordshire Terrier. Any dog conforming or substantially conforming to the breed of American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier as defined by the United Kennel Club or American Kennel Club. Any dog which is of the breed commonly referred to as "pit bull" and commonly recognizable and identifiable as such." I am truly in shock. :( In my letter I stressed more about how this is affecting Brooke, the disabled child. As a mother of a disabled child, I felt this is the part that I could really relate to. As my son also has his needs for comfort and security like Brooke has this need with Lennox. This has been going on for a long time. I feel so sorry for that family and Lennox. It is really heartbreaking. :( |
How horrible!! I will definitely visit the different sites to see what I can do to help..every one of us should! This story just disgusts me...Pits aren't even a dangerous breed, what makes them aggressive is HUMANS!! Evil people are the ones who cause the problems and poor pups like Lennox have to pay for it. Shame on the people trying to put him down. Hopefully this matter is resolved soon so he can go back home to his family. |

You know I will write again. |
Thank you so much for taking the time to write. I can only hope some push for Lennox in the end of all this will help, he and his family have been through so much. I know in the states we have the same thing going on in a lot of places. It is so sad. It's the humans that have done this to these dogs and the innocent ones pay for it while ones that have already attacked and been proven to be aggressive are returned to their irresponsible owners, why? Because they are not on the LIST? How anyone can look into the eyes of a scared dog and think it's ok to treat them as Lennox has been treated is beyond reason. Dogs are capable of more love and loyalty than most humans can even imagine and to make matters worse when taking a dog from it's family and making it live the life that they have to endure on doggy death row while all the while they have no understanding of why they are there and all they want is to continue pleasing the humans they come in contact with is just deplorable and one of humans biggest failures. Sorry, rambling...I am tired tonight. lol |

This dog is not even a pit bull. I previously read somewhere there was an DNA done. |
My letter was sent via email to the contacts on the list. Hoping we will hear some really good news soon. If you read all the stories it is really heart breaking. If you can get through them without crying than you are a really strong person. :( |
Nope, he's not a pit bull she had had him registered, licensed, neutered and DNA tested all before any of this happened in the years before. Everything to be a responsible owner. Didn't do a bit of good, shameful. :thumbdown I have read that story, I think I have read them all and it does just tear your heart out doesn't it. :( Owning a breed like the Yorkie means these laws will probably never affect me BUT it doesn't make it hurt any less knowing how these dogs are treated and suffer for the stupidity of humans. :thumbdown |
Have you been able to find out when the new hearing is. They still have that site shut down. Is there a new place to go for information? I can't seem to find anything except from the dog expert that said the dog was not aggressive. Let me know if you find anything out. We can put a last big push. A friend of mine is involved with two large rescues, mainly large dogs and they are all going to write in as well. |
there is literally no information at all out there that i can find! i don't know what to do :( i know one of the sanctuaries here have been supporting and helping all the way through the case, so i am going to contact them to ask if they have heard anything else- i'll post the reply if/when i get one (understanding that they will be very busy atm!)... thanks everyone for taking the time to help this poor baby! we Need this legislation updated in N.I and every signature helps!! |
I watch this page for possible updates and have gotten a thing or two through wading through the comments. I also just search the internet to find articles and do get recent ones on occasion. It is not easy to follow what is going on, No clue yet on when the next hearing will be, I really hope soon. This really has to end soon for this poor boy. :( |
It has gone on for way to long for him. What a sad sad situation. :( |
I always forget to put links! Sorry. This was the link I meant to say I watch as well as searching other forums where they talk about it and googling what I can find. save lennox's life | causes.com |
I have been looking at belfastnews.com and also found a link on care2.com, but there are no updates. The last I heard was they were disputing the legality of the situation. There are no more appeals as to whether he should be put down or not. If they can find a loophole in the law when he was taken from the home then they will have to throw the case out. It is now Monday and I am sure this will be on the table this week. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for you Lennox! I will post if I hear anything more. |
This is the latest article I can find on Lennox at the moment. It is a good read and explains a lot. Please have a look. North Country Gazette Shameful Act Of Deceit In Lennox Case |
the north country gazette seems to be the best for updating info etc on lennox... North Country Gazette Expert: Belfast Assessed Lennox The Wrong Way i love the guy who is quoted in this- he's saying exactly what everyone else has been trying to, only making his point way clearer! and after you read the article this point will make sense) my corgiXlab is quite a stocky gal- with short legs and braod head- will they have to seize her, and her majesty's corgis too?! jim crosby= awesome! thank you sir! |
Death row dog Lennox gets stay of execution as final appeal is sought - Northern Ireland, Local & National - Belfasttelegraph.co.uk be thinking of and praying for lennox on the 11th- it may unjustly be his last day. |
so, what happened to Lennox? is he home?? who knows what's going on now? |
This whole situation is simply disgusting. The people who are doing this to him are pitiful, sad, uneducated, ignorant, and probably have no soul whatsoever. There has been profound evidence stacked in their face regarding the attitude and temperament of this dog. He sleeps and cuddles with his Yorkie 'sibling', and is dearly loved by an 11 year old girl.... If that's their definition of a danger to society I'd hate to hear what these imbeciles think of a Bichon. Lennox has sustained an injury to his foot that was severe enough to cause bleeding; it still hasn't been treated according to news sources. Additionally there is evidence of some trauma to the neck. Neither of these injuries were present in this dog prior to his "incarceration". The most recent update states that there will be no decision made regarding another appeal to the higher courts until January 21st. If this dog continues to get treated as poorly as he has been by these people, surely his little soul will kill him if they don't. |
This is so sad, I can't believe they could actually treat a bread so badly because of irresponsible owners in the past/present! I have a pitbull and I don't know what I'd do if someone tried to take him from me or ban me from owning him. 1. I'd move elsewhere. 2. I'd never have him out in public if I couldn't move. That dog isn't even a pitbull in my eyes. This is so so so sad. |
This entire situation makes me sick. Poor thing. I have read the entire story and also emailed numerous of the officials there. I don't think it helps. :( Very very heartbreaking. |
Belfast judge to hear one last appeal to 'Save Lennox' the dog | Irish News | IrishCentral ...still praying for Lennox and his people. |
