Lennox Update. I just wanted to post and let those that may have been following some of Lennox's case know that After over a year, and then an extra week of dragging their feet in a decision, the court ruled in favor of the council and will be putting Lennox to death. This is a hearbreaking decision. For those that did not follow any of it. Lennox was a mix of Labrador Retriever and something else (NOT PITTIE) and the government deemed the dog to be a Pitbull based on his size and structure and confiscated him, threw him in a shelter which was no more then a shed with dirt. The family has fought for over a year to get Lennox back. They were suppose to have their court day three weeks ago and the court ran out of time and posponed it until last Friday, and instead of making the decision then, they made this family wait yet another week (Today) for their decision, only to tell them that their dog will be put to death. For the record, even if for argument sake it was a Pit, this family were responsible pet owners. Lennox (who by the way they had from 5 weeks old) who was 5 years old when they took him, NEVER had a complaint made against him, was microchipped, vaccinated, vetted, and neutered. Imagine how you would feel if after having a pup since 5 weeks old for five years you had him in your home as your family and the government marched in and took h im against your will and killed him. There was a 12 year old girl invovled with this. Lennox was her dog. Since the incident she's been so depressed she reverted to cutting herself. Imagine a family so tramatized. Lastly, the warden went to court and lied afraid if councel lost such a high profile case it would be precedent for others, she lied and told the courts she was afraid of Lennox and he was very aggressive. Why do we know she lied? We know because pictures surfaced of her frolicking with him, pictures of Lennox sitting on this woman's lap kissing her, of her hugging him. Now does that sound like a warden afraid? Does it sound like an aggressive dog? The whole situation is sickening. So what breed will be next? Becareful, it could be a breed you own. Elaine |

This is just sickening and all because of a few Idiots on a power trip. Also those Idiots are the ones breaking the law as it has been proven that Lenox is not what the Idiots claim he is. |

How absolutely heart breaking. I cried for Lennox. It just seems unbelievable that nothing could be done for him. |
Has he been executed yet? Is there still time for him? I have been very disturbed since reading this post. |

I am sorry for Lennox and appalled at the conditions that poor dog was kept in. I find it ironic that they would expect the dog to not be wary when kept locked up in those awful conditions. Shameful. I goggled the Belfast city council and sent them an email letting them know how I felt. |
Thats horrible I couldn't even imagine what that family has gone through. |

I literally cannot breath. :cry: I cannot even imagine the pain this family is going through and what that sweet soul has endured and all the time not understanding why he is there away from his family.... I don't even have words... I will write the council but have to think because I want it to be something that might make them not sleep so well after they read it. I know thousands of people have written them and I can't begin to think what I could say that could make a difference. I think if people kept their dogs in those kind of conditions they would be punished but they think it's ok to keep him like that. Sometimes I just feel hopeless for all the animals that suffer in this world and quite honestly every time I see it it makes me dislike people more and more. :( |

I wish I did. For now I am doing all I can and pray just one more voice might somehow help. I have signed and am now going through the list here Save Lennox and writing them all. I have sent one off and will write more in the morning. I am so sickened by the whole thing and cannot believe this is how they run things. :thumbdown In a clip talking about it they mentioned that they have the same laws here in the UK but I see dogs every single day being walked on the streets who LOOK like a pitbull "type" of dog. I think they are Staffordshire bull terriers. All I can think of is this sweet baby being taken from all it knows and living in that cell not understanding what has happened or where his family is and then dying with that being what his last year was like. :( |

Yea that would be cool. I wonder if they have a fan mail or a twitter acct. It seems like all the stars have twitter. Elton John is really tight with the royals. Wouldn't that be great if the queen called those idiots and said let the dog go home. |
I often feel like little ol me couldn't be listened to or make a difference but I am off to see what I can find. This whole thing just breaks my heart. Add to my list of places NOT to visit while in the UK...Ireland! :mad: We were excited to go there while here but I am not rushing there, not a place that feels good to me right now. :( |

Uggg, I am not a tweeter! LOL I went and signed up but now just trying to figure it out. Elton is on there and so is the Royal family but now what? LOL I don't see a way to post to them or write them and would heads spin if I just wrote to the Royal family asking for help? :rolleyes: Anyone else use twitter and know more about how it works. I think it sounds like Victoria and some of the others have been in the fight for a while so I don't think it is helping tons. That's why I can't do more. I am a complete loser with computers. I still am struggling trying to get pictures of Abby and Riley on here. I am sure there are a lot of people on here that will be able to figure it out. I am so hoping that this works. It is probably all the static they have been getting is the reason he is not executed yet. If some serious names get involved that may be all it will take. |
Haha, I am hopeless! I have never done anything like this before. I can't so far get a contact for Elton John so did the next best thing and looked for celebs who support animal causes. I came up with Ellen Degeneres who is pretty active in animal causes. I have written her with a plea to help and or find big name help here. May go absolutely nowhere but it's a start and I will keep looking and writing whoever I can. |
Managed to get a phone number to Paul McCartney's agent in NY. I absolutely suck on the phone but will give it try tomorrow unless someone else is good on the phone and thinks they can give it a try. ;) If you would want to do and are a good talker please let me know and I'll post the number. Forgot to say that he came up on the list as a long time animal rights supporter so not way off track I think. |
