I just love horses so much. I think they're one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet. So regal and spirited and powerful, almost mystic. Since you're a horse owner, I'm so glad you understand and accept where I was coming from :). Thank you for that. Since you have 7, I bet they love having a herd and having that natural bonding.

Do you follow the wild horse issues and how they kill herds from helicopters and stuff? Very sad.

Yes so very sad. It's just like the people in puppy mills gasing and shooting the older dogs. So much sadness But then you will read a success story of one dog or one horse being saved from this kind of death and it helps a little. If we just listen to all the bad we would go crazy. But when you can hear some of the happy it lightens your heart a little. It's just to bad there is more bad then good. There is so many sad stories of how even the people that are suppose to be saving the horses are not feeding them enough or giving enough water. And they are suppose to be helping them:eek: Sometimes it's just to much.... People who want to do good let it get out of control and then they are not taking care of properly. It is a vicious circle for sure.

It's not just the puppymills gassing. It's places set in place to protect them. Right now in NC there is a list of dogs scheduled to die this Thursday, tomorrow by gas chamber and it's not even a chamber that's working properly. It' broken. They will need to be gassed twice. It's also very young dogs not just old. Very sad situation. There is a whole litter of pups that look to be Golden Retriver mixes that are also set to die Thursday. Just so disheartenin that with more humane ways of doing things, this route is taken. Elaine

Wow I would think the animal rights would be all over that if it is a known fact it is not working right. And I totally agree there are much better ways. Its very very sad.

Why are they not switching to chemical methods (drugs) if chamber is broken?

I don't know why they are not switching. They are going to put the pups to sleep rather then gas them, but the adults are to be gassed on Thursday. Here is the link on FB. Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More

No it said that my first time. And then tried it again I needed to sign into my fb account. It will break your heart tho to see who's next.

Now this post has turned to nightmares again and tears. Let's hope someone can at least save one of them..

Didn't mean to upset anyone. I don't think anyone wants to befriend me on FB, because this is just a drop in the bucket. I get every hour more and more posting on my wall and that's not to mention the animal abuse coming up. As I said "Yep would like to take a break from it all, but unfortunately while we are all breaking, it's still going on."

I have searched and searched and can't find this story anywhere. This has happened before when I wanted to follow up on a local animal abuse story and not been able to find it again. Do the news stations just not think it's long-term newsworthy? I can find articles on every other type of story I read about but the animal interest ones just seem to disappear (I'm talking on a local level when I say this).

I don't mind if this thread takes some twists and turns. Not one bit :). It's just the nature of conversation, and I always think tangents are a good thing (unless you're in a meeting for work, then not so much :)).

No it is just what is happening out there like it or not. And you can not take a break from it. But you can feel totally helpless at times...... This goes on all over the world every day. It is when you see pictures it hits harder I think.
It is good you care enough to post and do what you can to make us aware of it. And maybe find homes for some of them...

I seem to have a love/hate relationship with this thread & similar stories I read. If I'm feeling the slightest bit down already I will not even attempt to read it. And if I'm in too good of a mood I don't want to ruin it.:rolleyes:

But I feel compelled to learn about these issues, maybe there is something I can do-even if it's only on a personal level. I just wish I could block all of the pictures from any article I'm reading. I don't need the visual, the words are enough, and the pics get burned into my mind forever.

After hearing about the elephant/circus issues I researched these issues all I could & made the mistake of looking at some of PETA's undercover videos (extreme, I know, but still fact). While it did educate me I literally felt ill for weeks+ after seeing it. It was like 8-10 yrs. ago & I still think of it. So I had to decide that for me it is just too much. It's just so frustrating to me that so many people condone this behavior that is so wrong. Not only the people committing the acts, but those that believe humans are the almighty, inferior being that can do whatever the hell we want.:mad:
