AKC's involvement with mills |
Thank you for the "eye opener" I am at such a loss for words |
Quote from link... "Andrew Hunte, founder of the Hunte Corporation, the largest commercial puppy mill broker in the U.S. was invited to sit in the AKC box at Westminster". :shocked7q .....dang...there's no 'WTF' smiley....these don't quite get it... |

This information is in AKC's reports right from their website and I think everyone should belong to Dog Press for information. Dog Press is for breeders but some do really care about animals, and they were very vocal in helping convince AKC to back off some other money makers they have gone after. American Kennel Club - AKC Board Meeting Minutes THE DOG PRESS - THE #1 SOURCE FOR UNALIGNED DOG NEWS BY & FOR BREEDERS, EXHIBITORS, JUDGES, HANDLERS, BREED & KENNEL CLUBS & AKC, UKC DOG REGISTRIES Take the time to get fully informed. I believe in the beauty of the purebred dog but I will not agree to animals suffering for a few dogs to get into the showring. I do not believe it has to be this way. |

:thumbup:Thank you for sharing this. An AKC employee herself told me they are in the business of registering dogs. Imagine how much revenue is being made from puppy mills and large quanity breeders. |

at the pet expo i went to AKC was there and i asked some questions about breeding and if a dog has a ton of health issues and is AKC like my dd do they do anything about that and she said they go and check every breeder out etc doing in home checks etc but basically NO lollll I have not registered dd as of yet and i would have to pay a hefty late fee i guess - What would be the point of registering her at this point if not showing, not breeding, etc? DD is limited AKC - just curious I need to learn more about this aspect as i never really looked into all this stuff as i do not breed or show |
do you have insider and charter member subscription? |
Dex is a puppy mill puppy sad to say was a dumb new pet owner and he is CKC from lambriar kennels and is from Lincoln Nebraska :( sadly have to say he is healthier than my AKC Dee Dee :( |
If I understand your post correctly...No AKC does not visit every home of every breeder.. Unless you want to get heavily involved with animal welfare then you do not need a subscription to review most of the Dog Press website. I have a yearly subscription because I believe you have to fully understand both sides to fully try to understand what is going on in this country but I did not for a number of years do the subscription. |

ok thanks as i devote most of my time on the health aspect as i get all those subscriptions but not sure this would be something to get then - i will just come to you for this lolllllll |

Just unreal Oh, and how about this: "The High Volume Breeders Committee is the AKC's new name for what used to be called a puppy mill." :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown |

I'm guessing puppymills bring in much more $$ than exhibitor/breeders do for AKC. So even show people uniting and trying to change AKC probably wouldn't have an affect. May be it's time for exhibitor/breeders to start their own registry? I wouldn't want to be associated with with puppymills and AKC! |
Thank you Cindy for all of the great information! I guess it all goes to the all mighty $. It's like fighting a monster multiheaded monster AKC, Millers, Money. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown My head is just spinning  |
