Help..I am worried about this dog! - YorkieTalk.com Forums

This post is not necessarily about Yorkies . My husband agreed to watch a Mastiff Puppy about 3 weeks ago and she was brought to my home. she was so huge i didn't dare bring her in house with my 4 yorkies instead I fixed her up with nice bed in shed. She seemed very timid and would barely walk. I asked my husband what I was expected to do with her. He said the owner wanted me to get her to walk and socialize better(like I am some great dog trainer). Well, needless to say i was overwhelmed as I am used to these tiny yorkies and it all seemed a bit shady to me. Well, the story comes out and my husband tells me that the guy told him that he breeds Mastiffs in a barn and he was talking abt shooting her if she didnt start walking(poor thing has a crooked tail too). So my husband felt bad and said his lovely wife would fix things. Come to find out this guy has one huge male and he is breeding it with 4 females. He is selling them for tons of money too. so I was furious and told my husband i was going to report the man for running a puppy mill(isn't this a puppy mill?) I also threatened to find someone and give the dog away. Well my husband called man and startes asking him lots of questions. I suppose i put a bug in hubbys ear. The man called said he wanted Dog back and came and took as he has papers on the parents and ownership( I was not home, my son let him take her). I am not even sure of his exact address and if u saw the state of this Dog you would cry. Until she came to my house she had never even seen the light of day. She couldn't walk because she had no exercise in 2 weeks she was bouncing all over yard. And loved me soooo much. I know where this guy works and I am sure this dog was either killed or is back in her abusive enviroment. What can I do if I dont know the address? I know kinda what area he is living in but thats it. I am sooo worried about her

How horrible. Can you find out his address by his phone number. Or try calling him at work and tell him you will take the dog and find it a home. Poor baby. I hope you can help her.

Call your local animal control, SPCA, animal welfare group or the police. Tell them exactly what has happened and what you think might be going on. Chances are nothing can be done as animals are treated the same as owning a car (property) BUT since this dog could not walk you might have a chance with abuse in this situation as he did not go after vet services etc. Please understand there is nothing against the law in regards to having a puppy mill - that is why they exist - but mis-treating animals and keeping them in poor conditions is about the only thing that can stop this type of actions. I don't know about your state but it might be illegal to shoot a dog but some states allow it.

Each state has animal laws on their books but sad to say most are very limited and there are hugh lobbyists’ when it comes to trying to change some of them..

You Know she did have a big bald spot on her head too..Almost looked like mange. I am sure she never saw a vet in her short life. I can't even think of that my babies go to vet all the time. My little ones are so spoiled. I am really going to call Authorities. Problem..There is also a dog that is abused and neglected around the corner and i called Animal control and they never even came to see it. It is amazing how u go abt and see so many animals mistreated. I drive by a lot where so pit-bull or something big like that is tied up with no shade and in a 5ft by 5 ft space.. I just wonder what could provoke someone to treat anything this way. I would have loved to take on this mastiff puppy. I have to be realistic though..its not a good combo with Yorkies that enjoy their romps in the yard when they want. I was afraid she would accidently hurt one. I couldnt even let mine out when she was here. I am an over-protective Mommy I guess

Did your husband find any info on the guy. I thought he knew him. Do a people search online to find his address. No matter what you do need to report this MAN.

If you really want to make a stink, you could call the local tv station in your area. They might have an animal welfare segment already, or a local "scum busters" reporter. Publicity is often much more powerful than the law. Abused dogs being bred to fight... someone might find it newsworthy. It probably wouldn't shut down this guy's business completely, but you could probably track down this particular dog.

keep calling the apca & get as much on this guy as you can. You can track him through his phone number. Then call animal welfare control & animal precinct. You will be able to get someone to go see about those dogs. There is no need in letting these helpless creators being tortured any longer. If you keep calling enough.
