How much are your obedience/agility classes in your area? Hello, just wanted to compare rates at different areas. I think New York City is fairly expensive- $345 for 6 classes, an hour per week. I was thinking of taking my two puppies when they reach 13~16 weeks in couple weeks but I might have to reconsider! |
Wow! And I thought MY class was expensive. I paid $165 for 8 weeks of agility classes (each class 1 hour long every Saturday). It's $145 for 8 weeks of intermediate obedience. I am in Maryland, btw. |
$345??? Ouch! I was at Petsmart the other day and the woman was telling me that classes there are $109 for eight weeks, which is about $14 per class. For agility, I pay $90 for a six week class for one dog, $165 for two dogs. Your puppies are, IMO, too young for agility. Repetitive jumping is not something you want to do with puppies because of the growth plates not being closed, although they close at an earlier age, usually in small dogs. There are still many things you can do to get them ready for agility. There is an article on www.cleanrun.com about it. You might also look into obedience clubs. They might offer better rates, especially if you think you might like to become a member. Good luck! |
6-8 weeks here for both is $120-$150 Conformation class was 6 weeks for $150 All classes are 1 hour long.. So it is quite expensive there... |

The school I go to is $90 for 6 weeks for new students, $80 for returning students. That's for everything, obedience, agility, rally, etc. The other school in town is $95 for an 8-week course, $90 for returning students. |
i do in home obedience training and i did 5 wks for $395. however, as long as the dogs aren't 'getting it', the trainer continues to come at no additional charge. so, the first time, she came for Mason, she came for 4 months. lol. so it ended up being about 24 dollars per visit for 1 hr each visit, plus 12 outdoor classes with other dogs in the program. now i am doing it with Ivy. She started lastnight and already knows sit. well worth it to me. i love not leaving my home. |

My trainer, is however, giving Mason free lessons when she comes to work with Ivy (she's 13 wks old) because she says, they tend to get jealous if they can't participate, so she's giving him attention as well and teaching him new tricks. He's obedient, so she's doing fun things with him so he won't feel left out. I'm satisfied, although it's costly. If I decide to increase the amount of tricks i would like them to learn, the cost goes up. She has different packages to choose from and then if i choose a more expensive package, she subtracts the amount i've already paid, making it cheaper. Does that make sense? LOL |
prices in north GA Our first class was $170 for 8 weeks and that included 12 practice sessions on their equipment with no teacher present. The place I go now is $100 for 8 weeks and does not include any practice, you can rent the space for $30 an hour but that is too much and too long so we don't do it. I would like $15 for 30 minutes maybe, it is cheaper to just take two classes a week which is what I do. I also have some jumps and weave poles at home. |

Those prices are outrageous :eek: My Yorkie has been doing agility for the past 2 years at the Humane Society. The course is outside. It is like $70 for 6 weeks and if you keep continuing the classes, it is discounted. So, I pay around $60 for 6 weeks now. |
It is $190 for a 6 week course, 1 hour per week. |
I'm in Northern California. 9 classes@ $125 AKC obedience for puppy, basic and intermediate. $10-$15 walk-in classes for competition level ...novice, open, rally etc. |
