It is also pretty expensive in the Chicago area. Just wait until you sigh the dog up for Personal Protection training and they live at the center for 3 weeks, with follow up training. |
I go to Petsmart in Northern Cal. I pay $109 for 6 to 8 weeks...depending on the class. I was going to do the class at the Humane Society, but the were $180 for 8 weeks. |
Everywhere is so much cheaper than NYC! I actually started my puppy classes.. and I think I really expected a lot more from it because of the high cost of the classes. It's really nothing special. btw- has anyone been to obedience schools that guarantee your dogs to pass AKC good citizens test or another classes free? I don't get how guarantees are possible when the owners have to train their dogs at home during the weekly meetings |

I just checked the dog boutique where I get Kaji's food, it's $195 for a 6 week course in basic obedience(one hour sessions once a week). To me that seems like a rip-off, but it is a "boutique." I wonder if PetSmart prices are the same across the US? |
Mine are $125 CDN for 6 weeks (1 hour per week) plus unlimited email access to coach. The life skills was more expensive, but now we're in level one intro to agility. I've also done one-on-one with the coach too and its' $75 per session at home for about 2-2.5 hours. |
in korea, there are two training centres that offers weekly lessons. the one center uses the clicker method and charges 800 000 won (750$ish) for 2.5 hour/week for 8 weeks and that is if there are 10 foreigners that sign up. there is another lady, who used to be a dog trainer back in the states and now live in korea because of her husband's in the army offers the same 8 week course but 1 hr per week for 100 000 won (low 90$ish?) talk about the clicker option beingthat expensIve |
My son teaches obedience at some Community Centers in the Dallas, Texas area and I don't think any of them are over $200.00 for several weeks' classes. I think most of them are well under that figure as the teachers at those facilities are dog lovers just trying to keep dogs out of shelters due to their owners' inability to control them. I think most of our Community Colleges have the same courses that are inexpensive. |
I took mine to the Nashville Dog Training Club for $100 for 8 1 hour classes. I think it is $150 if you sign up at the last minute for some reason. Because of most puppies short attention span, we had a few short training sessions in each class, but mostly it was the trainer telling us things about puppy care and training. A lot of it was information I already knew, a little of it I didn't agree with (garlic is poisonous to dogs but she recommended it as seasoning for high-value treats) but overall a very positive experience, and she encouraged us to email her about any problems we might have even after the class was over. I emailed her recently about a new behavioral problem, and she quickly replied with a long, detailed explanation. I think what really makes the difference is the instructor. I plan to enroll him in Obedience Level 1 when he is a bit older and I hope the instructor is as good. |
In my small home town in Texas, we only had one "real" trainer. Her name is Pat Cox and she was just great. Six weeks for the basic was less than 150, but the classes were more than an hour. She worked as a vet tech, too, and she had an answer for all the behavior and health questions. |
Any Agility Classes in Sarasota FL Area :)I'm looking 4 classes for my 5 year old. She already plays soccer and this would be so much fun :) |

At the Obedience Club in Louisville KY it is about $70 for 6 weeks of classes. Petsmart around here is in the $109 range that others are reporting. |
