| How often do you bathe your Yorkie? I get Tasey groomed every two months, and wash him once in between grooming. I just got my copy of Yorkshire Terriors for Dummies, and it says to give a bath weekly to every other week. Am I not keeping this poor animal clean enough? |

| I think it’s what hair cut you have and what your nose can tolerate . Emma is kept in long coat and a weekly bath to week and a half is how often she gets a bath. Anything longer her hair is greasy and she smells. So don’t feel bad if you prefer to only do 1 bath between grooms . It’s okay.

| My boy has a puppy cut year round so bath time is fast, summer he gets a bath once a week because he's out everyday digging holes in the yard and hunting in areas a rodent wouldn't even go, no blow drying in the summer. Winter he gets a bath every 2 to 3 weeks and gets blow died, he goes to the groomer every 5 weeks.

| Tasey has a puppy cut too. I usually give him a bath when he starts to stink. When he goes outside he usually just snoozes in the sun. |

| Cali is in full coat and gets a bath every week or more often if she is “hunting”.

| Mine has a long coat so I bath her every other week. She goes to a groomer once a month. In between baths I use alcohol free baby wipes on her bottom . That seems to work for me. Susan |

| Yes to baby wipes, I have a canister right by the door, he knows the routine, comes in, gets the wee wee wiped, butt if he pooped and always his pads cos he always just has to step in his pee lol. Works for me.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I bathe either weekly or every other week. I've always wondered why Yorkies need such frequent bathing. A big dog is luck to get bathed every 6 months!

| I think it's cause they are so low to the ground. Yorkies' are so short their coats collect some of the dust and stuff their or our feet churn up when walking and they are usually so short they bring in whatever in on the top of the grass in their coats, including pollen, dust, leaves, and whatever else might be clinging to or laying in/on the grass. Big dogs bodies are way above the floor and ground so only their paws and lower legs tend to collect the dirt, etc. our babies head, leg and body hair grabs up. Those long coats are like little dust mops! I notice the shorter Tibbe's hair is, the cleaner he stays longer.
