Hello! My wife and I live in Chicago and are looking for a yorkie as a pet (first time owners!). We have been doing some research and contacting local breeders. We narrowed it down to a few and are close to making a purchase of our first yorkie! I just wonder what is a good way to find out more information on the breeders we went to; to determine if they are reputable, etc. They sure seem to be reputable, but you never know. I have not been able to locate any feedback or references of them on the internet thus far. Does anyone have experience with breeders in Illinois? I've listed below a few of the breeders that we are interested in. If anyone has bought from one of them or heard about any of them I would appreciate the feedback! or if you know of someone else let me know. thanks!

Kathy Weems - Frankfort
Lee Navarra - Oak Lawn
Susan Haraism (Stardust Yorkies) - Clarendon Hills
The Millers (Judy) - Schuamberg

Hi!! I know Kathy Weems, her yorkies have great bloodlines, and I have purchased a yorkie from Susan in Clarendon Hills. Haven't heard of the other breeders.

As you know I just got Pixie from Susan and I took her to the vet yesterday and the vet said I think you hit the Jackpot this time, as she knows how much my other 2 spend at the vet. She said she was very sound and one of the best bites she has seen on a tiny dog, She had her rabies shot and you would never know it. I am happy with Susan's breeding. The only issues I am having is that because Pixie is 13 months old and use to being in a run with newspaper, housebreaking is a challenge. Her little personality is coming out more every day as she gets use to life with our family. Good luck

There's quite a few YTCA members in IL.... You could try giving them a call. If they don't have available pups they may know of someone that does.

I tried emailing the Breeders on the YTCA and got zero responses. A very kind Breeder on here told me to call the Breeders and referred Pixie's breeder to me. So I would try calling instead of emailing.

hello my fellow american i live in toronto...but im american yeah!!!lol i wanted to know if anybody knows where i can purchase a yorkie..im very interested in the breed...had one before but it was boyfriends and he took it with him

so im dogless..please let me know willing to drive down...for the perfect pet

I have been to see Susan's dogs but was very concerned at the lack of socialization they had. Two puppies just stood there (and we stayed for an hour!) One was 4 months and the other was days away from being six months old. She made the comment that they had never been upstairs from their runs in the basment. So never outside! only used to her and noone else. Nice lady but defensive about/when asking questions about her breeding. Does anyone know the other breeders and how they raise their pups? The AKC parent breeders have wonderful bloodlines more expensive but I just might be willing to wait for a good one. I lost my ten yr old Yorkie, Belle in December and we have a 1 1/2 yr old male now. Looking for another small female. ANyone expirience the other breeders and how well they have socialized their dogs? Definitely want a friendly Yorkie. Lots of movement in our house with people coming and going. Hoe did you get the other breeders numbers? Thank you for your help! I definitley don't want to help anyone in the puppy mill business!!!
