Wood Bed by Diannet (and husband Rick) 4 Attachment(s) I will start my review by just simply saying I LOVE THE BED that Dianne's hubby Rick made! I knew when I saw it for sale that it would look great in my 1930 colonial home. When I learned Rick is a finish carpenter who has amazing skills and really knows his craft, my husband jumped at the chance to buy this for the kiddies. I asked for the bed to be left unfinished so that I could paint it to match all the trim and doors in my home which are painted in Benajamin Moore "Navajo White" a color that I really love with the wide mouldings in our home. I received the bed in less than a week and there was no damage in shipment. The bed was beautifully made and sanded -- fine craftsmanship with detailed features and dove tailed corners. The bed was sanded so well that it could be immediately painted. It isn't quite finished yet. We primed it with latex primer, added two coats of latex paint, and one coat of polyurethane. It will need one more coat of polyurethane before really finished but I wanted to get this review up now. I also have not made a pillow for it yet, but I have plans for a minky shag pillow in baby pink and am just finding the time to do it. I will supplement w/ more photos later. Here is the bed...with my messy dogs who need baths and hair cuts! Thank you so much Dianne and Rick! |
Very nice bed, very classy looking. I am sure with the pink plans you have for it that it will look even more fab! |
It is beautiful!! The feeder that Rick made for YHR is wonderful as well! They are also sending a bed for the YHR raffle......and I purchased one for my pups. Both beds should be here any day...I am SO excited! I also chose to have mine unfinished to match my home. The YHR one is coming stained. I will post pics of both when I can. I have to paint mine first. :) |
Omg! My girls :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork are so jelly over that bed Cathy! Ok, so am I......off to go pour out my change jar to see if we have enough:twocents:for one, too! I would love to see a cushy box cushion in ours...already dreaming...lol!:p |
Wow that did turn out great! Love to see all the babies in the bed together too. Rick did a wonderful job. |
Love it and love the little quilt you have for it, such pretty nursery colors! Can't believe it's big enough for you whole crew! Do you have a widescreen for them yet? |

Wowzer! This is gorgeous! I can't decide if I want one in a cherry finish, or unfinished so I can paint ot like yours! I'm not very handy with a needle and thread....would have to have a cushion made for me. Hhhmmmm, maybe I need both! Gotta save some $$$$ though....been shopping for these pups too much these last few days! |
That is such a lovely bed. Those babies in it make it look even more nicer. Love that green wall too. |
That is beautiful craftsmanship! You don't find that kind of quality on store shelves! You are right too -- it compliments your beautiful mouldings nicely! |
I was in Home Goods last night and saw some elevated feeders. They were not made any where near as nicely as these (Ricks) are! Price was 19.99 for those. |

I told Dianne I could make cushions for these upon request if anyone wanted them. I just identified a foam manufacturer who might sell me scrap foam cheap in which case I might be able to offer to do fitted box style mattresses inexpensively for people. I am making the bed for mine as a pillow but may underlay foam for support and comfort on my old dogs' joints. I am also donating the bedding to go with the bed Rick and Dianne donated to YHR -- for that, I am thinking butterscotch fur and cheetah crepe satin ensemble with a throw blanket and pillows. |

Thank you! Some things just don't look good in an old house, so we try to go with updated items with period features and we just LOVE this. I'll post pics when I do my bedding :) |
