Alligator Clips?

I get asked once and awhile about bows on alligator clips. I've never been able to find them small enough to use on bows before, but recently came across some.

I currently offer two different types of barrettes, a french clip and a flat barrette similar to a child's barrette. Is that enough or should I also offer an alligator clip as a third option?

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, I've attached a picture of an alligator clip.

I think I would prefer barrettes or bands since my boy does not like bows much and would probably be able to get the alligar clip off his head :)

To be honest, I have never liked alligator clips...to me, they just don't stay in as well (IMO). I am happy w/ what you offer, but if customers are wanting this, that is up to you.

BTW....what does the child's flat clip look like?

Do people like it better then a french clip...I think that is what I always get.

I have several alligator clips for the girls and love them. I use a rubber band to make the top-knot then put the alligator clip right under the band or over the band, which ever works best. They stay in place unlike the rubber band bows that seem to always be crooked, and once the rubber band breaks you have no bow. I also love the claw type.

Ok, I mean the clip goes under or "accross" the band. ;)

This is the flat child's barrette. It doesn't hold much hair so it's good for a dog with thin hair.

99% of my bow customers who prefer barrettes want the french clip, but I do have a couple who swear by this one.

We mainly use alligator or claw clips...just easier for us. Did you find alligator clips that you think are small enough?

Yes, I did....after looking for years! They are only 1&1/8" long. Can you imagine what a pain they will be to sew on? :eek:

I think most people will still prefer french clips, but it will be nice to have this option.

Izzy can not keep that barrette in her hair - only the french barrette works or the bows with the rubberband.

I hate rubber bands (but that is because Mia's hair is so thin) but LOVE the Alligator clips. I would def order from you because it is hard to find cute bows on clips. :thumbup: :thumbup:

I like the child's barrette and the french barrette. I have so many problems with rubberbands on bows--but that must be me--carpal tunnel--and getting older.

i really do not like the bands and I've tried using child's flat ones before and didn't like those either. Hopefully the french one or this would work. Once Ava's hair is long enough!

I got the alligator clips and I am very impressed with the quality. They are very sturdy with a strong grip and even little teeth so I think they will stay in well. They are a perfect size for a bow, too.

oooo, now I have to try those!

I have many bows with bands but find that I hate them. I always put them on crooked! What works best for me is to do a topkno with a regular latex band (you can't tell when it's crooked when there's no bows on them!) and then I add in a pretty bow with a french barret or the flat barrette. I prefer the flat one myself but I will definitely order from you next Ladymom. I need to try those alligator clips!

I personally am SO SO SO GLAD you offer these! These are BY FAR my favorite clips...EVER. The french clips are a pain in the butt for me to be honest, lol. Tatum's hair is just SO THICK and it's so hard to get the french clips to stay in her hair - the thickness just makes them pop right out. :rolleyes: This is the whole reason why she never wore that many bows to begin with, because these are usually the only things that you can have added to the backs of bows, other than those darn bands :rolleyes: Now, because of these Alligator Clips, she will ALWAYS wear her bows! :cheer:

I am so glad the new clips worked for you! I have looked for several years, but never found one that was right for my bows until I stumbled upon this one. It's so nice of you to review it for me so I know that I found a good one! ;)

I personally love the alligator clips. They are so easy to put in the hair and seem to stay in the hair really well.
