I have a pumpkin I have to cut and cook to make pies...maybe tonight. I hate cutting up pumpkins. I have heard you can cut the pumpkin in half and scoup out the seeds and put it on a baking sheet and bake it...anyone ever tried that, instead of peeling and boiling???

yeap thats how i do mine............roasted pumpkin..... then i can them......did up 24 quarts 2 days ago and making pies as i type.

not yet....haven't even done the shopping yet :rolleyes: hopefully get everything done tomorrow, but there is only going to be the four of us and of course Trixie this Thanksgiving....so not worried.

How long to bake and at what temp?? and thanks!! that will save lots of time. Pumpkins are so hard to peel:eek:

I would say 375-400 until soft and slightly browned (depends on how small you cut the chunks ;) ;) )

Ugh I don't want to think about cooking. This is my first year cooking. Each of the last 3yrs we went to each others families house.....and now its my turn. :eek:

I am starting mine tomorrow. I make my pies and other desserts the day before. My family especially likes mud pie.

yeap--------------and sometimez i just cut them in half, so the time really depends on the amount you put in and the size of pieces......... just keep checkin with a fork............the skin will actually start to separate ;)

We are having 11 including our family here tomorrow. Today I will do the baking of the desserts.

My husband bought a ham...he makes a really good ham and thought everyone would want that instead of turkey. :eek: So, he will be making a ham, green beans, and mashed potatoes, and I will be making the turkey....and everything else! I'm actually very lucky to have a husband who enjoys helping in the kitchen. I can't imagine having to do it all by myself!

We will have 4 teenage boys here who can really pack away the food...so it will probably be a good thing to have so much!

Tonight I start my cooking!

I have read up a whole lot on cooking a turkey :eek: lol

I am going to do the traditional type of stuff (green beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls, stuffing.......and whatever else catches my eye)

......im dreading the trip to walmart for just marshmallows :eek:

We are having TurkeyDay dinner tonight 'cause I'm leaving for a dog show in the morning. Not only that but SIL and family are off to Florida :rolleyes:.

So... I cooked yesterday and this morning. The broccoli casserole is in the fridge, it just needs to go in the oven, the apricot/pineapple cheese delight congealed salad and the lime congealed salad are ready, the eggs are on the stove and just need to be deviled so I am almost finished - I have brownies and an Apricot Nectar Cake to go. I'm going to try and make cupcakes rather than a big cake. Makes it neater to "divy" up leftovers.
