YT's GE's minimum spending limit We're considering a change to our current $25 Minimum spending limit for 2012's Gift Exchanges. However, we'd like a input from those who participate in YT GE's and from those who would like to participate in future GE's. Currently we have a $25 spending limit, but have had several members request the limit be raised. Please vote in the poll and add reply with thoughts you have on the topic. Thanks! |
i know most spend alot more than 25, including myself. And alot of us have made gifts, and those are hard to put a price on. i know the ones i have recieved are priceless to maddie an I ;) ----- lol so im no help here.:) ---------if you increase i would say no more than 10-15. |
I feel the amount needs to be raised to approximately $50 as most of us who participate spend way over $50 anyway. If we put a higher amount on the GE only those that are really serious about making it special for our SB will participate. If we don't raise it to $50 I would like to see it raised to at least $40. This is just my personal opinion. The special homemade gifts are definitely priceless and very much appreciated. |

 you bring up a good point, maybe less likley to have a SB be left out. although everyone has always made sure that hasent happened. ;-) but it shouldnt happen to begin with! |
I know it is hard to get anything nice for $25.00 and I hand made a lot of the things I sent in our first and only GE. It is hard to put a price on hand made items, but they are the things I treasure the most. What with materials, the time spent it is very hard to put a price on that. I agree that the limit needs to be raised. IMO to at least $50.00+ |
I have no problem with $50 |
I agree with raising the spending minimum to $50.00 - the vast majority of us spend much more than $25.00 anyway. I know when I participate I make many of the gifts that I send and if I consider the "retail" price of the items sometimes the items in my box would be valued at $100 plus. |

i voted to increase more than 15 dollars. for me , i'd like it to be at 50.00. ( just a thought... maybe this would be too complicated, but it might be nice if there were 2 price categories, like 25. and 50 or over. , cause maybe some would like to participate, but only have 25 to spend....) |

I think the limit should be raise to at least the $50 minimum. A custom dress retails for around $25. Even if you were to go to Petco and pick an outfit they are around the $15 to $20 range. Personally, it's not the amount that is spent on a GE gift but the thought that goes into the gift. But it would be very hard to give more than one or two items in the GE while staying at the $25 minimum. You would literally need to shop at the Dollar Store to give several things to your buddy. I have all kinds of generic gifts put away and none of them were purchased for under $5 and most retail for over $15. When I put a box together for my buddy I do add the value and would not add something that I purchased as a $5 item and use the $15 price tag. It's like cheating the system. I'd rather say I spent $5 but I have seen some people did just the opposite. It's just wrong. |

... I don't even want to post how much I have spent... even with making a lot of the gifts-- but it is over $75.00- and if you price it as retail well ? But because I have a talent to sew may mean the gifts are wonderful to some, but other may be disappointed in "made" gifts... it does get complicated. To be honest I get a little carried away with the sewing and making and planning.. that is the fun but putting a max amount may be good too? I think a lot has to do with expectations and we all need to be on the same page. I will close with this ... I have been blown away with the friendship and generosity I have had shown me in this last ge... I think that caring is the most priceless thing of all!! |
