i agree! Mimi I hope everything is ok...I am now getting back in the realm of things and noticed that you were very generous in your GE package also...i know what it feels like to be out of the loop and busy that life gets in the way....as part of the GE rules states you just have to thank your buddy...pictures are nice but not a requirement. I hope you are feeling better...i too been sick and know first hand what it feels like because I haven't really gotten over my sickness! Well can't wait to see pictures I am sure Anne did a wonderful job like always

Admin has changed a part of the rule this last GE to require at least 3 pics (see below).
I too am more concerned over Mimi's state than seeing the gifts. But I agree w/Debbie (TOY) that at least she should list the gifts Tumi got. If I were Anne (mypreciouspups), I'd feel a little disappointed. Kinda takes out the fun of participating in the GE.

From the GE rules & regulations: 7. Receiving a Gift - Your buddy has put a lot of thought, effort, money and time into your gift. We believe that the least you can do is thank them. Please start a thread in the YT Gift Exchange Forum after you have received your gift so that your Gift Giver knows that you have received the goodies. It shows your buddy that you appreciate it and also lets us know that you received your gift so we know who or who did not receive their gifts. This is a requirement of participating in the Gift Exchange. We also require members to post at least three pictures in the Thank You thread as well, as members like to see the gifts being received, as some say that's the best part of our Gift Exchanges.

it must be a new rule because i don't recall that rule exisitng when I was participatig in GE's...sorry thanks for correcting me...GE's are so serious now that there is no fun in them!

Mary, I respectfully disagree. I have enjoyed the GE's I've participated in so very much. I'm only not participating in this one because I have totally overspent the budget for Taffy's Christmas and birthday. Plus, I'm wanting to help a start-up animal shelter in the county where I used to teach.

It's killing me though not to participate and taking every ounce of willpower not to go ahead and sign up. I am trying so hard to learn how to be disciplined in what I plan and not just give in to my "want to's". You'd think I'd have that skill mastered but I'm nowhere near there.

But as far as fun goes? I enjoyed planning and snooping and "stalking" my buddies as much as anything I've been involved in since I retired. It is wonderful to know that you are a part in making someone's day happy.

Fun? I'd even go beyond that and maybe describe the GE as a celebration...at least that's the way I looked at it. I got to celebrate a new friend and her Yorkie and that is a joyful event!

Thanks Debbie for you input...but me myself have been through a lot these last 2 years really and GE were something I used to enjoy until it got to serious....I mean don't need that extra stress on my shoulders about not posting on time or not being able to post pictures and people know i love to take pictures or just the thought that my buddy was not happy. So to me it isn't as fun anymore like it used to...it's so strict and regulated in a sense that if you don't do it like someone else you will be condemned for it....sorry that I did not read the new rules before posting my first post about pictures not require and that was my fault for not being in tuned with all the changes...i was thinking about signing up for this GE since it's been some time since my last ge and i wanted to have fun...then came across this thread and felt like wow maybe it's a bad idea...

Well mary I have not said anything.. but I know you would be the first one to make mention of no picture's, whether it be for people to see or privately...

I have not said anything so lets leave it at that..

Mary I will comment on your post.and I also do not agree.. I have not been commenting but I think before you got laid off work u did enjoy the gift exchange a lot.. and you had fun and you expected picture's just as you posted pictures..
So to make it all sound like you are.. please remember that people do a lot of shopping for gifts and one that signs up should have previously read about the GE and it they are too much trouble and not fun.. then those people generally just do not sign up..
And since you were not even on the forum at the time.. why come here in defence and making me look bad when I had said nothing.. REALLY!!!
And yes I got some very nice gifts for kandie... but that does not mean it would have been nice to either list or take a few picture's.. I have not said much about these GE's and mine have not gone very well.. but I am not a game player and do not appreciate this at all.. Like I am ungrateful.. I think you know better... I never forget to say thanks.. and I never leave one person out of three that do something nice at the same time... am I upset.. I certainly am..

i am not sure what you mean by your comment about being the first...but nothing i said was aimed towards you..after reading this particular statement "Did the bottom fall out of the box in shipping? Did you get an empty box?" I was like whoa...if this was me after reading that i may not ever post pictures....being sick isn't something that goes away fast and if i was given the opportunity to work till 8 or 9 in the evening with the economy the way it is i would jump at it since no one futures is stable....i just felt like wow everyone is jumping on the receiver once again without any thought of how she may be feeling or what life is throwing at her.....i will end it here...did not mean to cause a debate..

i did not say anything about you to make you look bad Anne....like i said in my first post I can't wait to see pictures because I am sure Anne did a wonderful job like she always do....

and my comment about after coming to this thread i am not sure i want to join in on GE's because i don't want people jumping down my throat in such event that i am not able to do as the like. Sorry if you took offense to that. It meant no harm in it!
