ha ha ha, I think the themes are a cute idea. I absolutely loved the monkey theme that my GE did! Its fun if you do your own thing kinda theme, make it what you want.

Ah Sarah -- you are so sweet! I loved having you and Maddy! It was such a nice way to get to know you a little bit better. I know that I will always think of Maddy whenever I see a skull paired with anything girlie! You all made me a convert on that. See old dogs can learn new tricks! LOL!

Yes I did a week ago today, and was told I had a Canadian and my buddie was waiting till I was home.. I have been home since we got Majiks gifts..and since we do not get mail on saturdays here... I sent admin a message again this saturday..(today).

I hate having to let them know.. and almost feel I should not have even posted in this thread now.. for I do not want it to be made into an awful thread.. but I have been asked by a few members if I have recieced it yet..
I just hope all is ok with mariska's buddie..I did not go to seach to see who the buddie is.. I just figure it will come one day..
The only bad thing is when I make the thread people will be too into the new GE :eek: I do not want anyone upset..

Aw, I'm sure it will be fine, and everyone will be happy you got your gift! It is a bummer that it's taking so long, but you're right, I don't want to dis your SB if they have a good reason for waiting.

I do see now more why you were so upset a few weeks ago. I didn't realize you were waiting for two gifts.

Anne -- I am so sorry you are still without a gift for Mariska, and worse, just sort of hanging in the wind as to what happened. Glad you have not let this deter you from trying again. Surely the next time will be the charm! But still hope Mariska gets a gift for this past GE before this next sign up begins. Whether it is one from your original SB whoever she may be, a gift from admin, or a gift from a volunteer -- she needs to get something! A Yorkie girl could get a complex! ;) Trying to keep it light since I know how frustrating this has been for you. I think you have been an amazingly good sport!

I can't wait for the GE. :D Hubby bought me a sewing machine and so I have been trying to find things to make! :) So maybe our SB will have some homemade gifts! I will warn you though, I am a TRUE beginner! haha

Awwww... I've always wanted to learn how to sew! I have never been able to get past the "cut out the pattern" part ... none of my pieces ever fit together right ... LOL

I was just reading about hand-made gifts on another thread and the value of such. I felt so bad for our SB because I can't make anything! I did make Taffy one of those tie blankets but if you look very closely, you would see I cut the square out too far on one end and to compensate by doing the same to the other corners would have made a fleece handkerchief instead of blanket.

I did take painting classes right after I retired (I should have sold tickets...I had never even held a brush before) and thought I was doing good. I was really proud of a painting I brought home after a class, my husband was bragging on it so nicely, and then I notice that he's holding it upside down! (Need I tell you that it was not abstract...LOL)

I think I discovered my talent years ago and it is talking! If we can just figure some way for me to turn that into a buddy's gift, I can send something handmade, too.

I cannot believe the next sign-up is almost here. I also cannot believe my friend Anne is still waiting for her Yorkie's gift box. Whoever said she has been a good sport about it is correct in my opinion. She has been much more patient and understanding than most of the rest of us would have been.

Does anyone know what we do now about her lack of a box? Do volunteers send stuff on their own? Does Admin send out a call for volunteers? I have no idea how this problem gets solved but I'm willing to help if someone would just point me in the right direction.

awww well HOPEFULLY SOON...then Mariska will be getting her gift!!!!! And correct me if I'm wrong..but haven't you been home several WEEKS?? I hope your BUDDY hurrys up!!!! Its not fair you have had to wait this long!!! ... IF YOUR buddy can't afford to do it...maybe they should contact ADMIN ASAP...so that OTHERS can volunteer to SEND A GIFT FOR LITTLE MARISKA!!!!! :(

And you shouldn't worry about making anyone feel bad...there are rules set in place with TIME limits for a REASON....so that this doesn't happen...:confused:

I am not really sure what happens.. but I do know that I am now cleaning out the rv of things we do not need for the meet up and if my buddie yet again for over three weeks has been saying my parcel will be shipped.. I do not feel so good about it for some reason..I cannot stay home to wait for a parcel when I will be heading to the meet up.. Since we are camping we plan to be there early and not rush.. it is our 30th anniversary in July and I really have no intentions at this stage to stay home longer and worry about a parcel coming..
For the message I just got from admin and she not shipping it out.. one month late already.. means that she is not really caring wether she has mariska or not,..if she did not want to bother.. she could have just ordered something and have a seller ship.. I would have had it by now... IMO only.. We have been home 3 weeks now and left flroida one month ago.. we left right after the deadline..
The good news is I am going to sign up again..For things happen in threes.. and last year I paid duty and the amount put on the customs stip was way over what value was in the parcel.. then majik's parcel.. I had to search and ask admin finally who sent it and who it was for.. there was not note or card.. and since no clothing it did not really give me one clue as to who's it was... now mariska's parcel..
I am also upset this was a Canadian.. for people like this is making it hard for other Canadians wanting to sign up.. I sure hope it does not label us..
For I care about my buddies I get.. I make it personal as I can.. I love the whole gift exchange part.. not just the receiving.... there is just much more to it all.. and I did have fun doing my gifts for all three of the buddies I have had that I have signed up..
But I do not give up that easy.. it would not be fair for an future buddie I would have... thanks guys and I must say.. if I never get anything I have met some wonderful wonderful members from this experience.. that is worth it's weight in gold.......
