Is this normal? OK...I'm spazzing out here. I have absolutely NO experience with shipping something through UPS. I have mailed packages through the post office before but I thought this box should go via the brown truck. Anyway, I mailed our box to our secret buddy on Saturday, early afternoon. At that time the guy gave me a tracking number. So far from what I can tell, our package hasn't moved an inch! I keep getting this message on the tracking site: UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Please verify your information and try again later. Is this because of Memorial Day? I knew we would lose a day but I thought for sure the box would have moved somewhere by now! What "black hole" has it slipped into? It is moving from one region of the country to another in case that matters. |
It probably is because of Memorial Day, try again in a couple hours. If it hasn't showed any movement by this afternoon I would be calling them. I use UPS for work everyday. |
yeah I mean sunday and then the holiday... I'd think that it wouldn't move until today. I'm sure it will safely make its destination but call them this afternoon if there is nothing on the site. I love tracking packages.... its so fun to see where they go, where they stop! LOL (Yes, Im easily amused!) |
That's what I was wanting to do...track the package! My husband has used them quite often but I haven't. He thought I'd get a kick out of knowing where the box was but shoot, it's just collecting dust in the same place I left it... Unless, of course, they only put MAJOR stops on it. If that's the case, ours may not have a contact point until it gets there! |
You will know when it leaves the UPS warehouse, it will tell you the city it is in and give you what time it was scanned in and out of warehouses basically (pickup, departure, and arrival times and places) Hopefully something shows up soon. Keep us informed. This is an example. But it goes from the bottom up. Hope this helps. Package Progress Location Date Local Time Description SIOUX FALLS, SD, US 05/19/2009 9:43 A.M. hmm I mailed my package off Friday and my buddy got it today!!!:D So it definately moved over the holiday weekend....:) I've had that problem at times tho with tracking my packages......and generally I don't find out ANYTHING until it has been delivered...then suddenly it turns up in the system!! Maybe that will be the same for you!! Don't worry You're buddy will get it!!! ;) |
I finally just broke down and called about it. It's still exactly where I left it early Friday afternoon! Who'd have thought? It doesn't leave their place until 4 pm today and then it spends the night at yet another place here in the same town. Go figure! Evidently it doesn't leave until tomorrow but they have guaranteed delivery by Friday soooooooo that means they must plan to drive it almost straight through! (I'm not even going to mention to the hubby that my "rush" to get it there was just so it could rest...LOL...makes me really, really glad though that I didn't put any "meltable" candy in there because I sure thought about it!) |
I have used UPS a lot and I can tell you from my experience that UPS Ground will not go out on a weekend or holiday but UPS overnight or 2nd day will. So, since you sent your package out ground you actually had until today to get it there. Also, UPS ground does not delivery to residential homes on Monday's either. Just info for future use. :D |
Wow! Good info to know... My box has finally moved all of about 5 miles...LOL However, it is at least now in the system and not some deep black hole like the Bermuda Triangle! I think it's picked up in the early morning hours for shipment out-of-state. |
I wonder if USPS is the same way? I got a confirmation number from them... but it doesn't seem to be tracking. Just says its accepted... whatever that means. |
I don't know, Robin. I've never sent alot of packages and didn't even know until this GE that you could track stuff with the post office. Big woo hoo....my box has made it all the way to Nashville! That means that it's moved a whole hour and a half from home since Friday. I could have sent it by tricycle that fast...LOL I keep telling myself it's due to the holiday but get this... It got picked up from where I left it 13.5 hours ago and it's moved 1.5 hours from its starting point. At some point it's going to have to pick up some speed if it's really going to make it by its guaranteed time on Friday. That guy on tv draws for UPS faster than my package is moving...LOL Somehow I'm thinking my being able to track this package's (lack of) movement is not necessarily going to be a good thing...LOL Hmmmmm...wonder if they ever still use that slogan "What can brown do for you today?" LOL... if anyone has someone that works for them... I really do like UPS. I like them because they know the route to our house even though our development is too new to be on GPS. They found us when local pizza delivery places call in bewilderment. |
Awwwww, man.... Does anyone know if UPS does ground delivery on Saturday in metro areas? I know they don't in rural areas around here. Oh boy... I wouldn't have survived the pony express days. |

UPS will show every point it makes during the trip. Arriving at the warehouse, departing for next location etc...and also includes a scheduled delivery date. |

You should be able to see a scheduled delivery date on their site. |
