An Open Letter to our Secret Buddy With all kidding aside... Dear Secret Buddy, Rarely in this day and time does one encounter someone whom you immediately know it would be an honor to call your friend. You know, the kind of person you admire and respect even though you've only met them through words on a computer screen. By reading through the posts of months gone by, I have met a person who embodies a strength of character that I easily recognize for the gem it is. Someone whose values and philosophy demonstrate a true realization of what's really important in life. Luckily, that person was selected to be our secret buddy...that person is you. Your work ethic and your determination to be all that you can be in spite of any obstacles in your way just underscore and further emphasize that you really are an honorable and authentic person. You stand out amid the "fake" people that put on a false face to greet the world. From what I've read and what I sense about you, you are sincerely a "what you see is what you get" type of person. Your compassion and interest in others clearly shine through your posts. It has been a real honor and pleasure to be your secret buddy and I sincerely hope that all your dreams come true as you meet and exceed your goals in life. God bless, TOY |

I think I'm still in the "school" mode of getting all sentimental in May. In my teaching career this month was my favorite and saddest at the same time because I was always an 8th grade sponsor. Even though I taught in a rural community, once those 8th graders were gone, I seldom saw them again because the chaotic, fun time of high school captured their time...as well it should. Anyway, I'm not sure what triggered the sentimentality today...unless it's the fact that it's the month of good-byes and new beginnings. I've always been one of those who rushes into the future with eager anticipation but pauses to glance backward at the past with tears of sadness at leaving it behind. If any of you happen to have children or grandchildren graduating this month or next, let me share one of my favorite quotes in case you need it (and of course, I have no idea who said it): "This is not the end. This is not even the beginning of the end. This is merely the end of the beginning." LOL...If I had a dollar for every time I've said that or written it in a yearbook, I'd be recession-proof! |
wow, I dont know who your secret buddy is but that is one tribute that surely will touch hearts. How very sweet of you. |
