Yay! It didn't take me as long as I thought to find it! 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 egg—beaten ¼ c. cooked, shredded chicken (canned is fine) Low-Sodium, organic chic broth (enough to make a stiff dough Optional: ¼ c. shredded carrots Directions: Combine flour, powdered milk and garlic powder in a medium sized bowl. Add beaten egg, chicken and chicken broth, mix well Dough should be very stiff. Add more broth if necessary On a well floured surface, roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters (I like bones or hearts) Place biscuits on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. (Cooking longer at a lower temperature will dry them out more and make them last longer.) What I did was used a can of chicken and drained all the juice off the chicken and sort of mashed/shredded it up into smaller pieces. The instead of using chicken broth, I just used the juice from the can and a bit of water. The recipe says carrots optional, since I didn't have any on hand, I didn't add those. |
