Excited for Our First Yorkie! Hi! We will be getting a yorkie puppy in a few weeks and are new to the breed! We live in MN and it is still pretty cold. Thinking we need to get her a sweater and some clothes, but I'm not sure where to look (so many different options) and have no idea what size she will need. She is currently 1/2 pound and is 6 weeks. We purchased a cage, however I was also looking at buying something larger, that she could safely play in, when not directly supervised. Any recommendations? Wasn't sure if I should be looking into getting a pack and play, pet fence, nylon one, etc. We appreciate any suggestions... Thank you in advance for any help! Megan |
Welcome to YT. Xpen or iris pen is ideal for unsupervised play. There is enough room for bed, pee pad, food, water bowls and toys. As far as sweater, clothes, if baby is 6 weeks now, breeder is keeping until baby is 12 or 13 weeks old, it will be warm enough, so you don't have to worry about sweater now. If you decide she needs something she will be home, you can buy, if to big you can always return. Do you have a name selected for this baby girl. |

I do have a suggestion for you. If you can, get multiple pillow pets (or anything as soft and cushy as those... take off the eyes if you get the pillow pets... trust me) and buy about four or five throw blankets. They adore snuggling, and she has a snuggle spot in each room. Living room has four snuggle spots. she has one huge pillow that I plan on swapping for a pillow from a member Lady Jane by June. |

Your puppies are both so cute! Thank you for the communication... I appreciate everyone's help! I will look at the pet pen information, thank you Matese! We are thinking of naming her Coco... my boys came up with the name :) JennaPenny, thank you for the information! I actually have 2 pillow pets in our donate bag... I will pull them out! What a great idea :) I went to target and Walmart yesterday and they didn't have any clothes I'm going to try another location today. If you have anything you would like to donate to our little one, I would be so grateful! I will definitely pay it forward and pass them on when she outgrows them. Please let me know! Thanks again for your help... I'm glad I found this site! |
1 Attachment(s) Congrats on your little one!! :) If you're looking for clothes (and puppies will grow out of them pretty fast), some people make puppy clothes out of old clothes - using just the sleeve. You just have to find a shirt with the right sized sleeve. |

Hello and welcome to YT Grats on the new baby |
Bringing our new puppy home in 6 weeks Our little boy will be ready to come home right before Mother's Day! I will be revisiting the puppies again in a few weeks to choose from 3 boys. We hike & camp (motorhome) & really feel the biggest boy, who should be around 7lbs when grown would be perfect for us. I have read a lot about choosing the right puppy & all the info is appreciated. This forum will be very helpful to us... Very grateful for all the insight :animal36 Milo's Mom |
