I am quite new here.... Hello, I am new here and happy there is such an awesome forum for Yorkie talk! I gave deposit haven't picked up dog yet, how old were they when picked up? I am VERY excited and I chose a boy! Also, I was wondering if Blue Buffalo small chicken and rice would be a great food for it, and what are the BEST:) and HEALTHIEST treats? And do boys wear bows? Hahah, I see so many beautiful dogs here, and most are girls, but does anyone put on a blue or red bow on boys? Maybe it would look foolish, any ideas for boys? Can't wait to hug and kiss him and start our bond together. I hear Yorkies are hard to train, thought about puppy pads until warm weather comes. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |
Grats on your new baby And welcome to YT :) |
Thank you! |
Welcome! How exciting! Most reputable breeders don't let their pups leave until they are 12 weeks old. Consider keeping them on the food they have been eating as changes are usually done very slowly to be sure you don't get upset tummies |
Hi welcome to Yorkie Talk and congratulations on your new baby! It's so exciting getting a new fur baby! Absolutely you can put bows in a boys hair, Presley has every color except for pinks and purples. Some would probably say no to bows on boys but I think it's precious! I get his from children's boutiques, there is more to choose from and they stay in better. My biggest advice is to keep the baby on the food breeder has him on until very well acclimated to his new home and then it's a slow switch over. Also, a harness is much better than a collar! Good luck, have fun and prepare for him to wrap you around his little paw! :D |
Welcome to YT and congrats on your soon to be baby boy. A reputable breeder will keep the puppies with the momma until they are 12 weeks old, between 8 weeks and 12 weeks old momma is teaching her babies many things like bite inhibition, that hard play biting is not acceptable, which will benefit the new human family, also the breeder is training puppies to use wee-wee pads which also help the new family when puppy transition to a new family. Keep the puppy on the same food the breeder is feeding, the puppy will be going through many changes when he comes to live with you, changing foods will cause upset tummy and diarrhea which is what you do not want. I have a boy and keep him with a top knot and bows, barrettes and claws, all colors except PINK. Boys can wear bows and barrettes. |
Thank you all for your responses which are very helpful. I will sowly change him over as the breeder uses Purina Pro-Plan and that's not what I want to use. I picked the Wellness. Also I am a bit on the fence about certain vaccinations. Which ones do they REALLY need in the first couple months? Thanks!:) |
I have a boy and he wears whatever I think looks good. Though his bows tend to run more to skull and crossbones, etc. I don't do pink or some pastels because people already call him 'she' even when he's got on "boy" clothes. |
