New Yorkie Mom- Fashion Help Please :) Hi everyone! I just became a Yorkie Mom to my 2.5lbs/ 4 month old Yorkie boy (should grow to 4-5lbs) and I was looking for a little fashion advice! :) I noticed he gets a little chilly in the evenings, so I wanted to get him some shirts or something. Does anyone have any suggestions for inexpensive MALE clothes? Also, we live in NYC and I'm worried about walks during inclement weather- both rain and snow... What are your thoughts on rainboots/snowboots and waterproof jackets? I'm not sure he'll like wearing shoes LOL  but I'm worried about frostbite in the winter. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is my first little dog (I grew up with labs) and he is definitely a little more sensitive to the weather. Thanks in advance- YT has been very helpful so far!:thumbup: |
We have bought Max some sweaters from either Petsmart or Pet Supplies Plus. They usually have sales or clearances where you can pick up some items and not break the bank. Max is 5 lbs and fits into a small. |
Pet Supplies has nice sweaters and T-shirts, raincoats for male babies, as for frost bite in NY, I would be careful of salted streets and sidewalks on the dogs pads. If you start them young wearing boots they will learn to use them, I have seen many dogs, big and small in NY with boots, not for frost bite, for salt on streets and sidewalks. |
Thank you both! I will definitely check those stores out!! |
If you have a Walmart they have nice inexpensive dog clothes. Under $10 . You might also try looking on line at PetEdge. Head right to the clearance !!! :D I would defiantly suggest a sweater with a rain coat over the top to keep him both warm and dry during those rainy days. |
I live on Long Island, and Katie wears sweaters, hoodies, and jackets or coats for warmth. She also has a waterproof raincoat, and her winter jackets and coats are waterproof too. She wears fleece booties a lot of the time in winter to protect her feet. I think Musher's Secret is also wonderful to protect the paws. Katie's jackets and coats weren't inexpensive, but I think it's important to keep her warm and dry. We go on long walks, and she loves it. Katie's jackets and coats are made by Hurrta. (Link below) There are things that are much prettier, but these are more for function. I love Equafleece also, but you'd have to buy directly from the company in the UK to get a small size for Joey. Dawn makes beautiful clothing. You should check out her site. CLOSEOUT! |

Thank you all for the tips! I've found that "Fit Warm" fits him perfectly. :) |
Sadly I don't have any advice when it comes to clothes, but I just wanted to say I've seen your account on Instagram before and your little boy is adorable! Can't wait to see what little shirts he gets :) |
Oh, thank you so much!! We're having a lot of fun with instagram. I think Joey likes the attention!! ;) Quote:

Jodi, a member here I believe, has an Etsy shop with some great fashions to check out. They are not so much utilitarian like you are looking for, but some fun stuff still. I don't have the link, but you can go to her facebook page, Chloe Bella design and get it there! |
