Ruffles, lace, pearls and charms.... (Lilah's ruffle booty pants) 1 Attachment(s) While reading through all of the gift exchange sign ups I saw more than one fawning note of 'those ruffle pant suits' and my curiosity was piqued! What could I be missing out on that must be the current height of Yorkie fashion?...I began to google and I was inspired. I am not a seamstress (I am a knitter) but I like to handstitch and my pocket book was looking too low to consider some of the nice pairs of pants I came across online so this is what we came up with: *disclaimer- poor lilah was dragged out of bed to play model for my gleeful culmination of ruffle pant stitchery and she was not pleased about it. I appreciate her somewhat appeasing me :) dont tease her okay? |

Just adorable, can't wait to see a photo of lil Lilah in her new duds. |
wow, lol, no sooner said then done, she looks just to cute. |
1 Attachment(s) On the left side of the pearl strand there is a little heart charm and on the right side there is a little 'L' charm for Lilah. Still working on perfecting the suspenders but they are set up to be interchangeable with other styles. There are buttons on the back and front and Velcro at the waistband. |

Omg this us adorable I have never seen anything like it it is super classy loven it and the model is gorgeous obviously! |
Thank you so much ladies :embar: I am so pleased! They were super fun to make :) |
Very sweet, feminine and frilly. Wonder why do they enclose the legs - for warmth? Does your girl really like having her legs put into pants? |

The pants are not fully enclosed around the legs- they are actually only connected at the ankle band and are completely open until you reach the waist enclosure (which is located where the base of a dress or a Velcro vest would connect too). I put lilah's pants on her for her evening walk when I got home from work today, let me just say she was not encumbered when it came to potty time! Lilah's response to her pants is pretty similar to her many other outfits or her top knot- a sigh, an eye roll, a what now mom? :) when she is really cold you can see that she appreciates her sweaters or dresses but for the most part I suppose she is somewhat indifferent to wearing clothes. Now getting new clothes- that is another story! :yorkieg: she always knows when a package is for her and she whimpers and jumps an digs and will wait in a dress me position to try on her new clothes- it is really cute :daisy: after that I can't at she is very interested one way or the other though, lol. Well, or getting dressed means she is going out and then she is excited too. So I suppose my answer is that clothing has been a way of life since day one (her breeder actually made dog clothes for a living and hosted and clothed the yearly dog adoption fashion show in portland so she was a model from the get get go) and I have never considered that she wouldn't wear clothes and so neither has she- pants seem to be about the same as any other clothes. Does Tibbe get dressed? :yorkiej: |
She apparently doesn't shut down like Tibbe does when I put clothes on him, stabbing me with stinkeye when I dress him, even when it was below 10 degrees here one year & I was cold in the house near doors and windows. I thought he could use a sweater and he let me put it on him but the scratching, the glaring at me and the hate-looks finally got to me and I told him "Enough" - to let him know the subject was closed. He turned and walked out of the room and stayed in the bedroom with his back to the door. When I checked on him later, he looked at me over his shoulder so pitifully I took the sweater off. And it only had half arms and only covered his upper back shoulder, chest and neck. I put it back on him when he went to potty but took it right off again as he went around in fast circles until I did - fast circles means he wants something like right now. It's a good thing Tibbe is a boy dog and doesn't belong to someone who wants to dress him up fancy - he'd drive them crazy with his nudist preferences! |
They are cute ! You did a great job ! . . . And you know if you like the the idea of pants just add it to your SB Questionaire . . Just make sure you have all the measurements. . . Maybe your SB will surprise you ! And you know you can always knit something for your SB . . Hint hint LMAO |

Oh Jeannie that is terrible! Lol, I am giggling at what pictures my imagination painted while you told me the story of Tibbe and the sweater :) poor sweet buddy. No...lilah is pretty comfortable with her clothes :D Thank you ladies for the compliments  lilah is snuggled up to me wearing them now and I am stitching on her flannel hello kitty Jammie's- I can make little thisis and thatsis but a professional stitcher I am not :) glad lilah doesn't mind about my little mistakes and seam falters- it makes them all the more fun to make. |

So cute! Mimi & Princess wants one please.:D |
Omg . . so freakin adorable !! These are not like any I've seen before but I love them. So feminine and girly. How might I get some of these for Ruby. Do share !!! |
How sweet!!!! How did you make them. I think a person could use onesies ???? Maybe? |
I am truly so pleased and flattered :) I used fat quarters for the waist band and ankle trim, the pre ruffled fabric was thirty dollars a yard  but lilah is pretty small :yorkieg: it was the only color they had (happened to be one of my favorites) and actually the sales rep said the had no pre gather fabric only trim! So I felt extra lucky to have found it. The suspenders are a thicker cotton lace trim by the yard , the waistband is attached with Velcro and I sewed two buttons on the Velcro and two buttons on the back so that suspenders can be interchangeable. On the suspenders themselves I doubled over the end fabric and stitched buttonholes, I also stitched where the fabric crosses the body. The pearl beads and embellishments were my favorite parts! I sewed on a small silver heart, strung the pearls and attached the other end with a small silver 'L' for lilah's name. I made the pattern out of a paper sack and I did make 'trial pants' to test out how I wanted to piece it all together and pin point sizing issues (lilah has a long body). I hand stitched it all together. I have room for improvement on the suspenders and would like a more stretchy material. It bothered me to leave the edges of the ruffle fabric unhemmed because I want a more finished look. If I made them again, I think I would cut a matching satin liner, use fusing tape to hem the edges of that and then attach the ruffle bottom to the satin with fusible interfacing so that it was a little cleaner and crisper and also I like satin clothes for lilah to help keep her coat without tangles. If anyone decides To make pants too please share them! I had a lot of fun and plan on trying out more styles of pants :) we usually make dresses and who doesn't love a fabulous dress?! Our fave, but turns out pants can be fun and frilly too! |
You made them ???? Well, I guess that's what I get for skipping ahead. They look store bought, very impressed for sure. I myself have not had the chance to try doing the pants yet. I do want to one day. |
