I have a Brother LX-3125 (I'm looking right at it right now, that's the only reason I know! Lol!) My mom bought it for me for my birthday a few years ago because I was sick of seeing everything by hand. It is a basic, easy to learn on, 14 stitch with button holer, machine. She got it at Walmart for under $100. |

I think maybe you should take a class and than once you take a class and first learn the ins and out of sewing and the machine you will have a better idea of if it is something that you really want to do. Than you can ask for one for Christmas. Just don't give up on doing something just because BF says you should. Maybe you could even find someone you know to teach you how to sew. If I lives close by I would !! :) I actually taught my DD Girl Scout troop how to sew on several projects. |

Tony actually apologized to me the same day we had that discussion and he just said he said it without thinking because we're in save-save-save mode. He is the responsible one in our relationship ;) lol I do still want a machine, I have for my entire life, really, but I think I can hold off until I really know a bit about what I'd be getting into, like you said. :) |

Plus having someone with a machine is a good start. You can learn the basics of threading the machine and bobbin correctly and sewing a straight line. Thats always good to know. Sewing pillows, curtains and things like that with out having a crazy pattern would be a great place to start too. |
I am glad Tony came around, I almost yelled at him, but LOL kept my mouth shut. I also wanted one for years and just kept putting it off, not so much because of money, but because I was not sure if I would be able to figure out how to use it. I am so happy that I finally bought one, LOL I actually think in the near future I might buy and embroidery machine. So LOL don't be like me and wait until you are 57! |
I used to sew and then fell out of it when I started working more, I would love to get back into it. If I remember it wasn't that hard to pick up. I of course have to wait too, maybe next year some time. Although I don't know who I would make dresses for since Molli doesn't really wear them that much. Maybe I can start a new boy outfit line......hmmm. |
