I have a Brother one & after multiple tries still can't get it just right. I don't think that thing likes me. Lol. |

I think its installed right. But its not grabbing the fabric. My machine is old, have no screw in the front, but one on top. Can't say it does much. But my foot is slanted. Part is suppose to be compatible with my machine. Ugh! So frustrated!!! |
Set the ruffler to gather each stitch. The top piece will have numbers and a star: * 12 6 1, with slots above the numbers. Lift it up and move it all the way to the left, making the post go thru the slot over the '1'. At the bottom of the ruffler, you'll see two dark or blue pieces of jagged metal. The top piece moves, the lower piece stays put. Feed the fabric between these two pieces of metal. Turn the wheel by hand to see if it's functioning properly. The upper jagged piece should move back and grab the fabric with each stitch and push it forward to create a gather. |
Thx for that great info. I just realized my ruffler is MISSING the the top dark blade part with the teeth on the edges. No wonder it hasn't been grabbing the fabric this whole time. Wow, I've been fooled. I think I bought this singer ruffler from a yt member here, but can't be sure. Oh well, back to pulling thread to make a ruffler!!!! |
Let me check my inventory.... I may have one you can have... |
Omg, kjc, that would be awesome if you have another. I appreciate all your help! Thx, karen |

Yes, I saw video. I'm missing a part on my ruffler. The blade that moves with teeth, so that's why its not catching fabric. Oh well, back to pulling thread :( |

www.sewingpartsonline.com Here is the type of part you need, now sure if is the correct one for the model you have. If not I'm sure you can find one for it. 2mm Ruffler Blade #G9S-2: Sewing Parts Online |
On the older ruffler models I have that part looks welded on to me... so not easily replaceable. |
Nye's, its done for me. Can't replace part. |
Oh well that's too bad, I'm sure you can find another ruffle from the site. |
