I have a husqvarna also. I love it. The new one is amazing. I got to play with it. Was een thinking i would trade in mine for a new one. . . they do that. Definitely try them all out and ask lots of questions. |
Can't speak to the Singer, but the Brother pe770 is a great and affordable starter and the 5x7 is great. Additionally, Ken's is a reputable dealer and folks who have dealt with him have been very pleased. Shopping around a critically studying various machines while looking T the quality of the stitch it makes is sound advice. The Brother can get costly if you have a Mac computer-if that is the case PM me and I can help you through that. If you have a PC they don't hit you for extra software. Enjoy! |
I have a HP laptop with windows 7 so I hope I can figure it out. I have been researching Singers this morning. I still can't wait to go talk to the people at Kens. I'm about 30 min from them so I'm hoping not only can they show me about different machines but maybe set me up with classes too. |
Ken's often offers more perks when you order on line. Doesn't mean you can't go to classes there, of course. Just wanted to give you that heads up |
I have the PE770. I LOVE IT! But I will warn you.....It is addictive!!!:D I recommend that you also get these accessories. The Elipes hoops work better with the machine than the 5X7 hoop that comes with it. Also, you will need lots of thread and I have had no problems with the Polystar. And, I suggest the pre-wound bobbins too. Another warning....it is an expensive hobby...but worth every penny!!! My PE770 is why I want to retire!!!!! |
PS...if you get the PE770, I will be glad to share what I have learned. I got my machine last May and I have learned a lot over the year. Also, there are several Facebook groups. Here is a link to my favorite site to get patterns. She has several freebies that you can download to get started. You will need to get the patterns in PES format. There are a lot more sites I will share with you. I have them bookmarked on my home computer. :) You will also need a software program. You can download a free trial of Embird and Sew What Pro. Welcome to Lynnie Pinnie.com! Instant download and free applique machine embroidery designs in PES, HUS, JEF, DST, EXP, VIP, XXX AND ART formats. |
Quote: lol... when I started quilting and emboridery someone told me I could pay for a couple of years of kid's college/university for what I will spend. They were right:eek: But now I don't spend so much... I have my supplies and besides fabric I don't spend that much I did get a part time job at jo-ann so I could buy all the threads and attachments at a discount. At that time they had a viking store in jo-anns. I taught sewing classes for a couple of years. I really want a new machine... but now is not the time.:( |

And, I would love to work at Joann's!!! So jealous!!!! |
I would love to have a multi-needle machine, but since I only do it as a hobby and not a business, I can't justify investing that much money. |
Did you get your embroidery machine yet? |
I did! I got it a week ago today. I went with the brother pe770 and so far I love it!!!!! So much to learn but it is fun! :) |
I have a Viking Topaz and a Viking Ruby. I love them both!! I especially love the thread cutter on the Ruby. I don't think I would ever want another machine without this feature! |
