I bought myself a gift! Hello ladies (and gentlemen if there are any lurking around here) - I went out and bought myself a Singer 3232 Sewing Machine today. I just watched the DVD that accompanied the machine and all I can say is, "Wow! Sewing has come a long way!" I have not sewn since I was in 7th or 8th grade. I thought we had my mom's old Singer (probably 40 years old by now) but could not find it, so I went out to our local craft store and bought one. I had spoken with my mother-in-law earlier in the day to make sure if I had any questions if she would be willing to help (my MIL sews up a storm and I want to utilize this resource and wealth of knowledge before it is no longer available to me). Sadly, my mom passed away, well, it will be 7 years ago on Tuesday. So, I don't have her to ask these things anymore. But I am really excited and nervous! It has been a while, but I think I am up for the challenge. Funny thing, I think my DH is more excited about the new sewing machine than I am, if that's possible. He was checking it out and oohhing and aahhing over it while I was watching the video - too funny! He's already making a list of things he can "repair." Off to go play with my sewing machine. I'm sure I will be asking lots of questions. |
That's great! I took a sewing class in high school and by the time I got the machine threaded half the class was over. lol Can't wait to see what you make. Enjoy. My Mom passed away 6 years ago next month and I know what you mean about not being able to ask questions. |
ahhh! You go girl ;) I didn't mean to make you have to go buy a BRAND NEW machine when I was encouraging you last night though. *giggling* |

I would encourage your husband! My boys are great sewers and are always happy to add their mechanical ability when I need to clean, oil or take apart a jam! |
congrats!! cannot wait to see your creations. |
Congrats. Maybe you can have a bonding moment with your MIL. Can not wait to see your projects |
Awesome! I borrowed my sister in laws sewing machine to make some curtains for my grandson. (My very old machine was not working.) I also made some repairs and made busy books for the grandkids and clothes and harnesses for our yorkies! I called her to see if she needed it back right away and she laughed! She said she doesn't know why she bought it as she doesn't know how to sew! She then told me to just keep it and if she ever needed something sewn, she would call me. I have used it so much and really appreciate the gift or hand me down or what ever you might call it! Yesterday, I started sewing curtains for my oldest grandaughters room. I am sure you will love your new machine! :D |
