2 Flapper Dresses 2 Attachment(s) I did it, yea:) Bob Mackie watch out there is a new dog in town:D:D HaHa two years ago you could have knocked me over with a feather if you said I would one day make two flapper dresses for dogs. Well along came Lola, then yorkie talk, then the fashion forum and then the sewing machine and now let's say I found new weird hobby. As many of you know i am going to NY to visit family and will be attending a lot of the "Pet Fashion" week parties, the big one is a Roaring 20's theme so I made a dress for Lola and my sisters Dog Lucy. I learned a lot with this project. I put interfacing in the bodice and doubled it around the button hole for the harness ring to poke through. I also used bias on the top of the inside of he skirt, which I am sure I sewed in the wrong way but I made work. I worked with a lot of trim including glass beads I found on Ebay Since like KJC pointed out in another thread dogs are horizontal so fringe does not hang well, so I glued the fringe to the skirt and used two layers to give it more fullness. I wanted to use a different pattern that would cover the chest up. Well after trying some practice patterns I could not get a good fits. So I came up with what turned out to be a better option. I sewed fringe in the front of the neck area and it covers just enough of the chest and it does not drag on the ground. Anyway I hope you like the dresses |
I have not had a chance to take any good pics of Lola in the dress, LOL I have had enough stress dealing with the dresses. Lola might gain weight with my new hobby, everytime she sees me walking towards her with a dress in my hands she runs away. I then have to give her a treat to come back and sit still while I check for fit:animal36 |

Thanks for the nice compliments. LOL I can't get over myself or get any work done for my job because I just keep looking at the pics and the dresses, I am like a friggin kid:D I think one of the things that makes me so happy is they are finished, since I have a bit of ADD I often spend more time organizing and just looking at my stuff than working with it. I have very little patience for projects and am awful at measuring but sewing has changed things a bit. I am exhibiting patience that I normally do not have, I have taken great care in measuring and fitting the dresses and am not just sewing willy nilly. So I guess at 57 sewing has finally made me grow up:p but probably just a little |
