Does anyone KNIT bows? 2 Attachment(s) I've been knitting ZoE a few sweaters lately, and always seem to knit a hat to go with it (even though she rarely wears them...cos let's face it, while cute, they aren't really practical). The sweater by itself just looks so plain & the hats just seem to "make" the outfit. But I'm thinking a hair bow would be more practical, and if I knitted it, it would maybe go with the sweater better than a fabric bow. Not got a clue how though, so figured I'd see if anyone does them & has any tips, before I try to wing it...as my winging it usually results in at least 5 attempts and hours upon hours of time. Thanks :) Here's the cute, but oh so impractical hats :D |
Thuy aka Tessa327 knits bows! The hats are so cute... and I love the sweaters! |

I have never knitted a bow for my yorks but.... YOU COULD MAKE LITTE POM POMS! I think those would be so cute with your sweaters! |
Did you try just knitting a small rectangle or a square, then bunch it up and tie it in the middle? (That's how I make fabric bows) |

Also, I'm figure out, smaller needles will work better, as it makes the rectangle a little more rigid. I'm used to using stiffener on fabric bows to keep the shape, but don't think that will work on a knitted bow. Thanks for the suggestion :) |

I did see kitted ones at petsmart. Maybe go scope them out. They might give you an idea |

I hope these will help I think the last was the best. Gave few different kinds of bows |
I absolutely love those sweaters and hats! You are so talented :) |
Oh my! Now that is cute!!! I ordered KS a knitted hat a long while back but am still waiting in it. I just love these hats on yorkies! |

I've made a couple...they just don't look good. The edges don't look right. I'm gonna put a sweater on ZoE & a bow using the same yarn, after her bath tonight. I'll post a pic a lil later. |
No problem. Glad I can help. Can't wait to see the pics |
Thuy knits bows and she made one for my buddy in the GE. It was REALLY cute! She also made a little scarf and a beautiful necklaceto match. |

I think it looks great! It could be a little smaller but a very nice bow! I've become fond of a little bigger bows on my girls bc I think it's cute. They don't seem to mind. I was always worried their bows might be to heavy so I made them REAL small. And you were my inspiration! I finished a sweater last night! Knitted sleeves and ribbing at the bottom too! More to come! |

Making the sleeves takes me almost as long as knitting the whole sweater! And I always forget how many times I'm going around in a circle, and on the first go of this sweater one arm ended up longer than the other, so I had to undo rows of it. |
Karan did you double the bow like with your ribbons, if so that is why it is heavy, can you try it one layer and use thestiffener. also it could be tad smaller but other than that I like it:D:D LOL I do like it just giving you some advice, love the color and the edges look sharp |

I tried making a bow. I used size 3 needles and cast on 10 stitches using worsted weight yarn. It ended up being equal to the size of 2 quarters placed side by side. Is yours bigger or smaller than that? |
Your sweaters, hats and bows all look great! |

Your bow came out lovely. It's nice to have another fellow knitter here on YT :) My bows 5/8" in size and are single loop, not stiffened. It's a personal pattern I use for business and also sell them here to YT members, great hit for winter ;) I prefer barrette backings over elastics and alligators clips. Here's a sample bow I made for Tessa with matching scarf (which is one of many impractical items I make. lol. But a girl has got to accessorize!! and being handcrafted, it is truly one of its kind). Tessa has over 50 knitted bows, so it's safe to say she has pretty much this winter and the next covered! :D :) |
