Alteration question I have a problem that I would guess many of us furboy moms share. I am not the most experienced and skilled seamstress, but can work a sewing machine when I hve to, lol! My question is--what do any of you suggest is the best way to alter the underside of a t-shirt for a little boy? I have ruined a couple trying to do this, and feel that there has to be a better way! Also--My boy Connor (my "little" man of 16lbs) is an "inbetweener" in size. He is way too big in most mediums and large is extremely hard to find for him. He also has quite the barrel chest, and most jackets and some shirts are almost too tight. Any suggestions? |
I'm going to follow this - I would love to know. I also am not the best but I'm learning. :) |
If you purchase a childs tshirt for your boy. Try it on,if it is too close to the floor you can make a seam down the center of the tummy,if the neck fits but the tummy part is to close to the floor, make a dart. If it is to close to his (!!!) and you think it will get wet. Open the side seams some, trim off excess in a curve shape, starting at side seam but not shortening the side seam, cut a bit higher at center and then back to side seam. Cut a piece of knit fabric 1 3/4" wide by however long the new cut place is. Sew strip to raw edge 1/4" seam, fold other long edge to encase raw edges and top stitch, resew side seams. Good luck. |
