Making harness question... When making those harness vest things, do you use velco on the chest part of the vest, and does it work, and where do you get the d shape rings at?? |
Yes you can use velcro on both the chest straps and the neck strap. These work well if the dog is small and does not pull hard on a harness. The 'D' rings can be purchased at any fabric store. Make sure that the flat part of the 'D' ring is saudered shut and that there isnt a crack there. The fabric can slip through and the dog will be loose. I use vests for fun clothes and a leather harness. I do not trust the velcro because it can become worn and not hold as well. |
I buy the mettle d rings at Joann fabric and in the same area you can buy the velcroe by the yard. I get the wide -- I think 2 or 3 inches. By using the wide you have a safer closure. I also agree... when traveling or out of our little neighborhood walk I have a no*choke leather harness on her. I can still dress her by either putting the harness over or under her outfits. Some outfits have an opening... like a button hole for the d ring to fit through. |
I like the velcro to be in the back, and then a clip to hold together, and then two d rings attached on either side of the clip. The leash hooks through both sides. No way that suckers gonna come off, even if the velcro is worn. |

I like that idea... just gathering thoughts on making a few uni sex harnesses to put in my yorkie hope chest... LOL! |
You can get the clips, d rings and Velcro on line too |
can someone post a pic of the clip that they are taking about... |
I use velcro as well. I order mine on Amazon 10 yards at a time. I have found it to be much cheaper. I order my d rings on etsy from Hong Kong. They take a couple weeks to arrive but you can't beat the price. If I run out though, I pick them up at Joann but always try to use a coupon. |
