sewing circle just wondering if any of you participate in one. Yesterday at a craft show i met a few women selling homemade pouches and handbags and stuff. I told them about my new sewing machine and trying to learn more about sewing, I asked them if they ever sewed with anyone, turns out they belonged to about three sewing groups. One is just around the corner at a huge Baptist church, they meet every Thursday at noon, they bring their machines and also have a pot luck and sew. You do not have to be a member of the church and they invited me to join them. I should really be working, but I work from home so thought I would go check it out. They seemed very nice and said that everyone is helpful. I thought this would be good for me in my learning process. So Thursday will be busy, sewing club in the afternoon, wine club in the evening, just glad it's not the other way around, I already have a hard enough time sewing a straight line:D |
That sounds like fun! I'd love to do something like that! |
Haha! You crack me up! But yes, a sewing group should help immensely! My gosh, just thinking of the years and years of experience you will be gaining access to! I belong to a few online groups, but hands on is way better. |
That does sound like fun! Im teaching a young lady to sew right now. She didnt know what a seamripper was,so we are starting at the VERY beginning with hand sewing. This is my sewing circle right now. |
I have. It is fun. I belonged to a costuming sewing group. |

Period costumes. From medieval to 18th century. A lot of work but fun. We did a Elizabethian gown with the standing ruff all hand beaded. Italian Renn dress, etc |
That sounds like a lot of fun. Honestly, I had never heard of such a thing. But I think your wine club sounds like more fun!!:) |
How fun Donna. I'm in a local crafting group but these women mostly sew while I knit. You can really learn a lot from those who have done it all. I've seen some of your work and think you're doing really well for starters. Will you continue to sew in the long run? Maybe I can commission a dress from you for my Tessa. She's known to hoard dresses from different seamstresses :D |
