How long does it take for you to sew.... I am wondering how long it takes everyone else to complete a dress, harness or any other project. I am truly a perfectionist. I will rip out any line of stitching that doesn't meet my standards and it takes me a while to get each item finished lol. I am wondering if anyone else is as picky (crazy) as I am and how much time you spend sewing etc for each item. |
It takes me about 45minutes to an hour to make a standard dress with a skirt. If I am coming up with a new design and making a pattern, it takes about 2-3 hours. I rip out a lot of seams too:p |
it takes me hours...depending on what im doing. i also make my bais and usually have some sorta detail that takes more time. i havent really stuck with one pattern yet i keep jumping around so i know if i stuck with one it would be less time eventually. i myself am a perfectionist as well. i always find something i want to tweak. lol |
Each dress usually takes up to an hour, especially if I'm really putting a lot of "extras" on it! |
I've sew a couple beds for the boys and both took me less then 2 hour but I am NOT a perfectionist at all. My boys wont noticed if the seams are a little crooked...LOL |
Oh...I'm the worst;), I only catch a little sew time on a weekend day and then I sew a little, leave it, come back later, sew a little more, leave...and on and on. So, let's see, my answer would be.... F-O-R-E-V-E-R:D |

I wish I could leave it:D I am OCD when it comes to any project..sewing or anything else. I cannot step away until it is done. |
It takes me about an hour to make one basic dress or pantsuit. If it is fancier, it takes longer. And I too have a hard time walking away from something until I am finished. LOL! I'm so OCD! |
I didn't know a dress could be completed in one day  I am cursed with both the OCD and perfectionist syndrome. However mine applies to baking and crafting. I can't imagine how it will be when I start taking up sewing. Here's a question for all sewing enthusiasts.. How long did it take for you to learn and get a better feel for your machine  |
it takes me an hour to make a basic dress, and some more time to add the embelishments that I want.. hugs, |

It doesn't help that i'm A.D.D. :p And I have about...oh....a gazillion projects going. ;) ahahhahaa:rolleyes: |
Love the answers, you guys crack me up. So it would seem that you ladies for the most part are faster than I am :) I'm sure it would go faster if I gave up on being SO fussy. I mean I have seen many handcrafted items for sale that frankly look like they were sewn during an earthquake lol and they sell very well. One of these days I am going to have to time myself. It's hard to calculate as I rarely make one dress at a time. I do an assembly line sewing style, all the cutting of all the pieces for the items I am making such as dresses, then all skirts made, all bodices made etc etc.... I wonder if anyone else does that too? I have to tell you that its SOOOOO wonderful to chat with other women who enjoy sewing and yorkies as much as I do :) :) |
