Fashion emergency! 3 Attachment(s) Luma snuck online and ordered two tutu dresses and a pair of jammies from Bella's Prissy Puppie Boutique...she's always stealing my credit card  well they came today, and they are WAY too big!:thumbdown I guess she doesn't know her own size. Silly puppy. Anyway, I need to get some velcro so the fit is a little snugger. the proportions are still gonna look ridiculous on her teeny body, but at least they'll fit. I don't have a sewing machine. Can I hot-glue velcro pieces onto a dress? Or I could try to hand sew them. What do y'all suggest? I just need the fit around her waist and neck to be tighter. She still looks super cute in the jammies though :p I couldn't get over how cute she is in these baby HK pj's! Hehe :) |
2 Attachment(s) and here's the tutu dresses...they're way too big to put on Luma and take pix. The first has a super glittery pink and green tutu. the other is a Texas A&M tutu :) Can't wait to walk her around town in that one. When it fits that is! :D |
Holy Cuteness! Love little Luma in her jammie jams! Adorable!!! Tell her that KS tends to steal her Mommy's credit card too and order things she shouldn't.....;) I have used hot glue on fabric things for scrapbooking before and it seemed to hold pretty darn well. They have adhesive backed Velcro, but I am not a fan of it. I made the mistake of using it when I first started sewing and it would pull on KS's hair! Took it right off. Someone mentioned they have iron on Velcro I think? That would be an easy fix. Worst case scenario, take the dresses to the dry cleaners or tailors. They could fix it up for you in a jiffy! I know some of these sewing pro's will be of more help than I though. ;) |
Oooh, another thought....Liquid Stitch! That stuff is fabulous! You can get it at the craft store. It is a bottle of white looking glue. A little bit will go far. And it holds up great...even through multiple washings. It is permanent. I have had great results with it! |
Those tulle dresses are lovely and Luma looks so cute in her jammies. Tessa is waiting for a few orders from Bella's and we just bought her PJs last night along with some stuff for our GE buddy. tehee :D |
Aw...those jammies are so adorable...what a little doll baby Luma is:) Love the tutu's, they are so pretty. Yes, you can hand stitch the sew on velcro. Hot glue would just crack off of material when the fabric was flexed, I believe. I'm with Amyee, not a fan of stick on velcro. Sewing would likely be the best option. Oh, when sewing on...it's hard to poke a needle through...but it can be done. |
they do make iron on velcro just be careful and iron on the fabric side, do NOT iron directly on the velcro itself. Place it and then turn the piece over and iron on the back. Lesson learned the hard way LOL The velcro will melt and stick to the iron if it's touched but it's fine from the back. |

Here what I would do. Take a seam ripper and break the stitches holding on the velcro and remove the velcro...Buy some Liquid Stitch like Amyee said, and use it to hold the fabric once you fold it over neatly to a size to fit your baby, This is the tab where the velcro used to be.. Then use some iron on velcro and place it on the tabs and iron it on....if you need an iron, Walmart has a teeny tiny one for $9.98 in the crafts dept. Dresses will then fit your baby... (PS if you want to iron everything, buy Stitch Witch tape instead of the glue and iron it on-) |
Is your baby still a puppy? If so, I would just wait and let her grow into it. If you aren't familiar with sewing or patterns, then where you think the velcro should be can be way off. Unless your baby will be patient with fittings that is. I was a techincal designer (professional "fitter" LOL) for years on humans, and on an animal it's much harder. A 1/2" to 1" on a human makes the difference of one whole size, imagine the difference on a yorkie baby. |

what a bummer Carmen you must have been so disappointed, you have been patiently waiting so long. What did Jacque say, I am assuming that she had Luma's measurements. |
Have you contacted Jacque? She could fix them for you I am sure. I have ordered things before and had to have them fixed. Usually most don't mind if they have to do it. I ordered from her at the end of March. It is the first time for her to make something for Rosie. Can't wait to get them. I have changed my fabric twice and she has been more than nice to work with me. :) |
Singer makes a tiny machine called "Handy Stitch" it is a miniture machine used just for such things and mending. It wouldnt cost you less than a Kwigy Bo bag. Or there is a glue that is called "OK to Wash It" this works well on Scout patches. If you decide to use a glue to alter the garments,do not ever put it in the dryer. The heat reactivates the glue and will allow it to slip around on the garment and makes a mess. |
I dont think I'll be sending it back to Jacque lol. We're going to my boyfriends hometown for another checkup on his ear, so I'm gonna ask his grandma to fix it. I'm just going to have her add more velcro. That way it'll be adjustable and she can still wear it when she's bigger. It's my fault since I ordered the dresses before I even brought Luma home. Couldnt help myself :p |
