Beautiful dresses! It's always good to take a breather...I get started and then look up and several hours have passed.:) |
Oh my goodness Kathy, those dresses are gorgeous!!! It has to have taken hours of tedious work to get all those details done. I bet your back is breaking. |

I use a pneumatic stool so I can change the height I'm sitting at, and I do take breaks alot when I feel the need. Funny, after I finished the first dress of this style, I felt like, 'OMG, I don't believe I'm not keeping this for myself!' Lol. But when I see the happiness and excitement of others when they receive a dress I made, it makes it worth it. Plus, I keep thinking , Oh I can always make one later, lol. And you know how that goes! |

Yay! I'd love a Kathy made dress for my ks! I want one in this scallop style. I have been eyeing these 2 fabrics or a while. I know they're bold but thats what I love. Could you make one with these? If need be a solid could be mixed in. I can buy these 2 and have them shipped to you if you'd like. I can pay you for your time and any supplies that are added. Is that too much for me to ask? (to choose these fabrics I mean) Sugar Hill Fabric by Tanya Whelan for Free Spirit by fabricshoppe Sugar Hill Fabric by Tanya Whelan for Free Spirit by fabricshoppe I'd like the first fabric to be more prominent. I know these are fabric quarters, would that be enough or should I see about buying more? I like that slicker fabric you use on the insides of your dresses for the lining. Sorry to ask so much. You can pm me. :) Thanks! |

You do beautiful work! I'm a quilter, but wish I could sew clothes. I tried pajamas for my maltese, but I failed big time. I guess we all have our talents : ) |

Aw! Thank you! I enjoy sewing more now than I ever did! Sapphire keeps looking at me like 'Where's my new dress Mommie!' So I pull out an older one and put it on her, lol. Then she's happy for a while. Hehe.:D |
Your dresses are really beautiful and unique, with such attention to detail. Anyone that gets a KJC creation is very lucky. You bring such wisdom, compassion, and talent to Yorkie Talk, and I feel very blessed to know you. |

Wow Kathy! Once again you have blown my mind with these beautiful dresses...So gorgeous! Maybe someday when I grow up, mine will be one quarter as beautiful... Question: How do you attach the little binding to the bow? |

I put on my magnifying glasses (seriously). The pattern calls for the bow to be cut on the fold, so after I cut the bow out, I cut down the fold. Then I make the piping. Then with the bow right sides together, I slip the piping between the pieces, matching the raw edges of the bow and piping, and pin it, leaving a 2 inch opening to turn it right side out after I sew it together. When I sew it, I use a zipper foot, and I butt the lump of the piping up against the foot, and use my fingers to keep the piping on track. I sew as close to the piping as possible... the zipper foot allows me to see exactly where the needle will pierce the fabric, and I sew it very slowly. And the piping has to be notched to get it to go around the corners. I'll take some photos the next time I do one. Same method for the collar and the scallops, and to add lace, I sew it onto the piping first then slip it between the fabric.... Hope this helps! |
