Side cutter To the sewing ladies: Do you use a side cutter? Do you like it? How often & where do you get it sharpened or does it wear out before it needs sharpening? THANKS! |
Looks like I'll have to go find my own answer :p |
What is a side cutter?? Is it like the rotary cutter? |

hi no I don't use a side cutter. I do have a serger and if I want to "trim" my seams I finish the seam with the serger. :) |

:wavey: Thanks Shinja Trying to decide what "cool tools" I should dream about ;) The side cutter seems less complicated than a serger but I'm sure it has limitations. |
Just saw this...I couldn't have helped anyway, had not idea was it even was, LOL, :D So, does it trim and finish the raw seam edge or just trim it closer:confused: I love your CAN DO attitude! |

Hmmmm, interesting. |
I never did buy the side cutter although I'd still really love to hear from anyone who uses or has used one. ;) |
I have a serger that does that but I would not use a side cutter on my sewing machine. I like having a seam allowance just incase I need to take it out a little. Maybe just me |
I have no idea what that is either. Lol. So much to learn in sewing! I know I do want a serger though. Once I made Mom a few outfits I see how beneficial they can be. |

I have one -- came with my machine -- I've only used it a couple of times and never on my doggie clothes. I used it to make my son some costume pants and pajamas. It took some time to get my zig zag stitch to the right width/ length etc. but once I got it I really liked it. I thought it gave a more "finished" look and I didn't have to iron any seams. I'm afraid to try it on my doggie clothes because I'm so set in my routine. I'm kind of old-fashioned that way :D |
